About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To find personal growth in all that I do by integrating in every place I go.
Meaningful travel to me is connecting with the land, it's people and community. I hope to leave every place I go to with the feeling that there's something I'll miss, and someone who will miss me.
ABOUT ME
I'm very open, but I love to live my life by a Norwegian saying I heard many years ago: "Fri Lufts Liv!" Free open air life! When travelling to the Yukon, My travel partner and I brought a canoe and spent a lot of the time hiking. I've also been hitch hiking from coast to coast, spending at least one night in each province of Canada. I also spend a total of nearly 8 months in northern Quebec teaching in a Cree elementary and high school.
Recently, I went to Maui, Hawaii and spent 7 weeks there staying at a friend's place. While I was there, I found I am most satisfied in community, in nature and contributing to a greater purpose. I volunteered here and there, contributing as much as I could to the community and boy, it sure did pay off!
I plan to travel Canada some more, but I dream of someday spending some time in Norway (or other Scandinavian countries but my great grandmother is from Norway so I find it interesting!) perhaps working on a farm, using my massage therapy skills? Learning how to make a sweet Norwegian style wool sweater... who knows! I'm looking for opportunities!
I also love participating in social activities that include movement like yoga and dance (but I prefer dance without structure.)
I graduated from school for massage therapy in Manitoba and I grew up in southern Ontario. I live in Manitoba, but I don't really know where my home will ultimately be.
I’ve been quite the nomad especially since o visited nomads in Mongolia- I figure, what the heck, I love so many people and so many places and I get different nutrients from different souls.
I am a giving person - I love to be around people, but I also like to ground myself in my own space too. I am mature but I also like to keep in touch with my inner child often by dancing/saying silly things and being imaginative. (Being creative is really important for the immune system!)
Every action has a purpose, but the important thing is to be aware of what our intended purpose is.
And you know what? At the core of our being is the same for all humans- we all have an intention for better - we differ only in what we feel is "better."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Love it.
I love hosting and so far we've had awesome guests! There's always so much to learn from everyone we meet!
My experience surfing has been just as positive too. I really feel that couchsurfing enhanced travel experience because I didn't just see places, I experienced them by connecting with people and getting to know more about the place from another perspective. It made me feel closer to the places I traveled.
And I love the website! It's so well put together, easy to navigate, and they do their best to enhance safety.
Needless to say, I'm a big fan of couchsurfing, and look forward to continuing to be a part of it.
So far so fantastic!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I took a helicopter in Hawaii to plant for 5 days.
I camped alone in a haunted forest. (I didn't know it was haunted, but felt welcomed by the land)
I was a grade 5 teacher when I was 19. I was a substitute on a reserve Called Chisasibi!
I've slept in every province of Canada (and one territory) at least one night and lived in three provinces.
I can touch my nose with my tongue.
I managed a canoe by myself for 3 days and nearly caught the biggest fish I've ever seen (but my line broke... twice.) thankfully I kept my fingers not the fish.
I did another solo canoe trip with a dog i just met. And she stole my heart.
(That’s more than one but I probably won’t be penalized for having too much to say :p)
