ABOUT ME

i moved to california in january 2011 to live happily ever after with my partner, who's a grad student at uc berkeley. i spent six months last year living and working on a permaculture education farm, which was awesome; since then i've been working at an elementary school in oakland and trying to get my photography business off the ground. before i came to the bay area, i was travelin' around visiting friends and family all over the country, and before THAT i was riding my bicycle cross-country from portland, oregon to yorktown, virginia. before that i lived in portland for seven formative years.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i was happily astonished by the generosity of couchsurfing folks and even total strangers who took me in on my cross-country journey. i can't wait to pay forward that generosity someday when i get some roots into the ground somewhere. hey, we're going to be in india 2014-2015, probably! come visit!

music: what's not to like??

books: i love tom robbins, kurt vonnegut, angela carter, ursula le guin. best book i've read recently: the snow leopard, by peter matthiessen. ok, i read it in 2010 or something, but i can't bring myself to replace it with something else in this little text box. it's that good.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

stood on volcanic cliffs on the big island of hawaii with my back to the jungle, the wild ocean stretching out in front of me, the plume of steam where pele's fire hits the ocean to my right, and a secluded black sand beach to my left. plus, fresh coconut milk straight from the tree.
