About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to approach living as science and art.

ABOUT ME

I genuinely care for the wellbeing of those around me. I believe that family and friends (and rock climbing) are perhaps the most important things in life.

PHILOSOPHY

Good vibes, crush rock

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host (not at the moment) and surf. I think meeting people in this way from all over the world is an act of peace, an anti-war protest. We trust one another and take the risk of having our concepts of others challenged. When we know and love others, how can we wage war against them?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Stayed with a CSer in Crete for a couple of days. She was hospitable and her place was a good home base for some day trips into the mountain villages. Parked my truck where a CSer's house used to be in NOLA. Spent two days in Boone, in a trailer behind a real estate office.

I hosted folks from Europe, the States, and China when I lived in Juneau.
All positive experiences, positive people.

Interests

Books, writing, drawing, religion, philosophy, biking, swimming, sitting, thinking, photography, bird/plant/animal identification, geology, natural history, climbing, hiking, music-making.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Anything Wes Anderson or Luc Besson, plus a whole lot of other stuff. Documentaries tend to strike my fancy.
Music: Hipster garbage.
Books: Philosophical treatises, spy novels, and things with pretty pictures.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Southern coast of Crete- a tent, falling asleep to the rhythm of the Libyan Sea. Suddenly- the floating mountains of California's Lost Coast. Smith River- a feather in my hair. A year goes by- White Mountains, minus 30 and old friends. Six more years, again they're gone and here we are, aging well.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know at least a little about a lot of things.
I want to learn about the art of living.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will make you tasty food and coffee in the morning with a side of good vibes.

Countries I’ve Visited
