About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make everything in my life stronger, focusing on things.

ABOUT ME

I've written the profile things beneath first, i think they explain everything. And, reading over it, I'm such a HIPPY. That ain't such a bad thing.

PHILOSOPHY

Be nice to people, be helpful and honest. Talk, communicate and the world will be a better place. Dont get distracted with the energy of not being able to do things - find what you *can* do.

See how nature reflects our lives, how the gorse bush grows where nothing else does, and flowers as little rays of sunshine.

Give people chances, but not naively. Being firm can be the most positive thing to do sometimes.

Life is full of polarities. It's all about finding the balance, flowing well between and within them.

Be open, give different thoughts a chance to see how they settle in your head, or not.

Show great humility as well as great self-love. It's amazing to be able to appreciate all the great things you are, and to place yourself in a place of service to the world around you.

Try to do the right thing, at least try to figure out what that may be, and be consistent with your goodness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined this site after asking Jacques Poulin-Denis to stay. I had an amazing time and felt very privelaged to have met him.

After reading the intro to this website, I understand that it's about more than just finding a place to stay. While the world has all it's problems and issues outwith our influence, I decided some time ago to do things in my direct circle of influence to help people. Hence going into healthcare and therapies.

I am opening my home to couchsurfers so another little border dissapears. I don't know how often i will have people - I can be busy at times and unable to have people round. But when i can I will more than happily invite people here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My good friend (though i didn't know that before I met him) Jacques came. We had Christmas Day in my flat with my flatmate Lucy. I made Christmas dinner and it turned out perfectly. People visited, we talked, we laughed, we played music, we ate cake, and stayed up to the early hours of the morning figuring out life. It was a blessing to have a good soul stranger staying with us.

Interests

Learning how to do new things, sharing skills, being stupid, performing, investigating, making people laugh and laughing at people. Yes, *at* people.

Playing music, writing things down sometimes, and general stupid 'arts' things.

I work kitchen managing and volunteering at the Forest Cafe in Edinburgh. www.theforest.org.uk It's an art space, veggie and vegan cafe and, above all for me, a community place. A place the people who use it love very much and work very hard to keep open. The Forest runs not-for-profit, no-one owns it, it's volunteer run, it holds amazing events, it's a space to meet great people, the food is amazing (especially if i make it :-p) and it's just a really important place in the community. It's amazing to see something working like this so well.

My practice and knowledge in Holistic Therapies/Medicine is fundamenal in my life. While I'm still just getting round to practicing more full-time, it's philosophies and practical uses are very important to me. It's really weird stuff, but it works and it's beautiful!

Music, Movies, and Books

I LOVE music in general, and my tastes are broad. From Rock/Metal to electro, whizzing past a pool of pop and dipping my nose into classical, before drying myself off with a fluffly towel of ethereal loveliness. Haha! I think I've got a bit of an obsession with Bjork.

I love going to see movies when I don't know anything about them. My favourite ones I've only seen a couple of times, like Being John Malchovich and All About Lily Chou-Chou. I try to stay away from horror films, they just make me feel bad for a while. At the same time, some of the most gruesome films (like Dancer In The Dark) have stayed with me as some of my favourite.

I don't read half as much as i should. I try to read mostly about holistic therapies etc. I should read more fiction really.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The things just keep on getting better and better.

Teach, Learn, Share

Your body is a map of itself. Your whole system is reflected in your eyes, your back, your feet, your hands, your ears, your face...probably everywhere. That's how reflexology, iridology etc work. It's quite amazing. You can massage different areas (not your eyes!) in a certain way to help promote healing in the body. Great.
