About Me

ABOUT ME

Friendly, fun, caring, respectful, independent and non-smoking : )

After working in a hotel for 3 years in Taiwan, I went to Switzerland to get a higher degree in hospitality. In September 2015, I finished my studies and my Swiss experiences have changed my whole perspective toward life, hospitality and humanity. I learn the 5-star manner while I continue to enjoy the friendliness and warmth on Couchsurfing. It's the human touch that counts!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Reading through CS profiles is like flipping over books with different subjects. It is always interesting to know someone from the lines and I hope my hosts enjoy mine as well.

I like to make personal CS requests and I am always grateful to whoever willing to host me. What's more, I like to sleep on a coach, seriously! : D

Some hosts have really beautiful ideas toward life and I'd like to collect them here to remind myself as well... thanks for the generous sharing for my inspiration!

- Carpe Diem, Carpe Noctem, Carpe Omnious! (Seize the day, seize the night, seize it all!)

- Its better to regret something you have done than to regret something you missed the chance to do!

- Live and let live

- Let it come - Let it be - Let it go.

- Everything happens for a good reason.

- Be the change you want to see in the world (by Mahatma Gandhi)

- There are no strangers here, only friends you haven't yet met (by William Butler Yeats)

Music, Movies, and Books

I like almost all kinds of movies except bloody fleshy movies.

My favorites :
Inception / About Time / Monsters Inc. / Forrest Gump / American Beauty / Gladiator / Moulin Rouge / Life of Pi (tell me who is the movie director to impress me!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2014 I did a 10 k marathon in Lausanne without any training. In 2015 April I ran another 10k with 2 minutes improvement. My records are not that impressive but I like the feelings of achievement.

In 2015 I spent 5 weeks in Palestine, mainly in Ramallah for my master thesis of the tourism development of Palestine. This experience brings me several amazing friends and an mind-opening inspiration about humanity. I am no longer the old me and I strongly encourage everyone to go see the beauty of the Holy Land.

In 2016, I accept a hotel job and move to Mauritius for 2 years. I am excited about this adventure and want to get the most out of it!

I like to learn about different sports and if my interest is raised up, I'll go for a try to challenge myself! : )

Teach, Learn, Share

I always give the references after my trips and I hope to receive the same from my hosts because I think I am polite and friendly. Thank you in advance !

My incredible CS experiences :

- Kindness from the hosts whom I never meet

My surfing requests are rejected under three common situations:

1. Declined without any words

2. Declined with a short message briefly explaining the reason and wish me good luck

3. Declined with messages and still try to help in any way they can (so touched!) : finding a way to leave the key to me when the host is away for his own trip; promising to confirm his schedule and getting back to me as soon as possible; asking around his friends to host me; referring me to another host close by; offering me information to the local hostels

- The host gave me a massage the first night of my arrival and I fell asleep because I was too exhausted from my traveling. He asked me to pack and leave one day earlier unexpectedly because he wanted to leave his town to fresh up himself.

- I fell in love with a host and stayed at his apartment three days cuddling without any sightseeing. The magic power soon faded away after we both returned to the daily routines. A few months later when I check his profile again, by reading his new references, I realize that he treats all the female surfers the same way as he did to me and each girl experiences his extraordinary gentleness. Therefore I doubt that those girls feel in love more or less like I did while staying with him whether he does it intentionally or unintentionally...

- The host in my favorite city showed me extreme kindness and generosity within CS spirit. He triggers me for the decision to host people when I have my own place later in the future. I still stick to this idea and look forward to it!

- I missed the last metro back to my host's place then I took the wrong midnight bus so end up I walked along the tram trail back around 3 a.m. in the morning. On my way I even greeted an old lady who walked her dog in the garden before the sun came out... when I finally arrived my host's place on foot, I opened the door quietly and saw an unknown man coming out of the toilet. Since it was not a good moment to get to know each other, we said hi shortly to each other then returned to different rooms for rest. The next day I was told that the unknown man is the host's son living in another city and he arrived the previous evening while I was away.

- I accidentally find out my best friend's ex-husband on CS. Their breaking up was pretty ugly and I unfriended him soon after they split up and never heard of him since 2012 even though I also knew him for years before their marriage and he was quite friendly to me. I never thought that he'd be on CS because he was close-minded, stubborn and had no intention to learn English besides his mother tongue. Apparently he opened up his house in Lyon after my friend left and he hosted several girls from Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. All his surfers were happy to stay with him and amazed by his Chinese speaking ability. He also surfed a few times to USA and even shared his love story (with my friend) to his host. My feelings are really complicated when reading through his profile and references. He hasn't logged in for 8 months and I have no idea where he is now. I truly wish him all the best from my heart and will just keep this story to myself.

- I don't resist alcohol that much now after visiting Munich and Bordeaux. Even though I am not a constant & professional drinker, I tend to enjoy my relationship with beer and wine nowadays.

- I had my very first sisha-smoking experience with my host. Now whenever I see sisha, I think of him. : )

- One host looks really dim and vicious from his profile photos. Even though I was a bit worried and scared, I wanted to bet my luck since all his references are positively good. It turned out that my host is extremely kind, friendly and caring but he just doesn't smile much! He devotes himself into Red Cross volunteering and he juggles and plays fire dance as a professional. He is such an interesting mix and I'm glad that I met him in personal instead of running away due to my pre-judgement.

- My various hosts introduce me some sports that I never knew much about but I'd really love to try them some day in the future! These extreme activities to me are : rock-climbing, paragliding, speed-riding, juggling

What I Can Share with Hosts

Currently I cannot host anyone but I can offer some good time over a cup of coffee or enjoy a delicious meal together.

I like to discover common things between my hosts and me before meeting in person. I hope to get along with you like good old friends even though we just spend a few days together.

I'd appreciate you to at least reply me one line before declining my request right away. We are human beings with feelings and I sincerely hope that our roads can cross each other for a life sharing experience!
