Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Do good work in these interesting times.
ABOUT ME
I write, go to school, work at a theater, crack bad jokes, pet the random cats in the neighborhood, hike, talk to people, and try my best to create a world that is just a little bit nicer to those living in it.
I'm a cheerful pessimist, with a bohemian idealist bent. I like backyard cabarets and potlucks and wine and the kind of parties where people sit around and tell stories until three in the morning.
PHILOSOPHY
Love, truth, and courage (whatever that means).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Relying on the kindness of strangers, at the moment. I'm doing a cross-continental roadtrip with two friends, and hoping to couchsurf a bit along the way. When I'm in Vermont, I'll try to host people again.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted quite a few people at this point, couchsurfed in a few different countries, and done a fair share of seat-of-the-pants traveling, WWOOFing, and work exchanges.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: I have eclectic tastes, and this changes all the time. I'm currently reading about the history of public libraries and Arabic literature, and also working my way through the Sherlock Holmes stories. I read a lot.
Movies: Amelie, Lord of the Rings, anything with the Marx Brothers or Charlie Chaplin, Shaun of the Dead, The Breakfast Club, old horror movies, Pixar movies.
Music: I'll listen to anything, and enjoy most of it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In July, I visited Malaysia. My sister and I made a pilgrimage to a tea plantation; we ended up walking a few miles with some new friends, discussing philosophy and life and traveling, and sampling a few fresh green tea leaves off the bush. Mmmm.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can:
-Make some damn good muffins and various other baked goods.
-Grow a successful garden, feed chickens, clean up after animals, make a compost pile
-Edit a short story, term paper, or thesis.
-Make puppets (on the cheap!)
-Saddle and ride a horse, so long as it's not too much of a jerk
-Stilt dance.
-Bind books.
-Write, act in, and occasionally produce a play.
-Tell a good story.
-Drop random facts about obscure history subjects, sociology, genetics, archaeology, and philosophy.
-Tell you all about queer and gender theory, and give advice for being a good ally
I want to learn:
-To can food
-To cook decent curry
-To fix my bike
-To sew better
-To knit
-To become one of those handy DIY folks.
-To speak more languages
