Overview
About Me
I currently live in Hyde Park and work as a high school history teacher. I previously worked as an English teacher in France for two years, and in Korea for two years before that.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Expats and travelers are the most fun. :) I love being able to hang out with locals when I'm traveling to have more personal experiences with people. I've couchsurfed in the US, England, Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea. I hosted people in South Korea as well.
Interests
Books, languages, politics, movies, cafes, all kinds of food (especially desserts! num...), introspection, classical music, prog rock, world music, education, art, anime, Tae Kwon Do, Tai Chi, salsa dancing. Also, lazing around at home with my cats.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: I love reading, but it's difficult to pick favorites. I guess I'll just say Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen, and Harry Potter. :-)
Movies: The Lord of the Rings, The Dark Knight, Frida, The Life of Pi, Sense & Sensibility, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, The King's Speech, Moonrise Kingdom, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, The Nightmare Before Christmas
TV/Anime: BBC's Pride & Prejudice, Sherlock, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Game of Thrones, Fruits Basket, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Moone Boy
Music: I listen to classical music and alternative/prog rock mostly. Mahler, Debussy, Ravel, Stravinsky, Beethoven, the Beatles, the Clash, Pink Floyd, early Genesis , Jethro Tull, Lunasa, Sigur Ros, Fanfare Ciocarlia, Gogol Bordello, CCR, Florence and the Machine....
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Saw the first performance of the Palestine National Orchestra since 1948 (Dec. 31st, 2010, in Ramallah, Palestine)
Swam in a river in the rainforest
Visited Angkor Wat!
Teach, Learn, Share
Always happy to teach French or flute, and I know some Korean. I can also teach you some Tae Kwon Do or salsa moves. ^_^ Aside from that, just learning about people, places, languages, and cultures interests me a whole lot.
