About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To bring joy to faces and butts everywhere. To explore.

ABOUT ME

You're probably going to have an easier time telling me about me. But I think I can take a crack at it. I dance. I'm a dancer by profession. I also love to talk, and hear stories. The thing I like about dance and conversation is they both involve human interaction.
And music. Music is very central to my life right now, so that's important too. Am I doing this right? I never seem to have any problem meeting people. I mean, I get along with most of them. I'm a big ball of organized confusion, but I'm a good communicator.
Let's just say, I wake up every day grateful for where I am. But I can't tell you just how I got there, or just where I will be next.

PHILOSOPHY

Wow, this question is heavy. Why do I live my life? Um...I thought I was just born this way. I live for the moments when I feel most alive. I live for the ups and the downs. I guess I can't place it, but sometimes you just get this feeling that there's some magic right inside of you. Maybe I live for that?

I hope in every day that I'm a kind and gentle person. I believe in being honest. I hope I give love. But I think that's more of a goal. I wouldn't begin to pretend that I always am the man I want to be. But I always try, you know?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been a host and surfer my whole life (website or not). I grew up having houseguests and being a houseguest. I host at my modest Portland location when possible. On the flipside, I live a nomadic lifestyle. I'm a touring performer (think circus). So I hope I contribute to the general diaspora and spreading of culture and information. I don't know. Is there still a helpful place for explorers in today's world? I hope so.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Like I said, whole life. But with the help of this handy website I surfed my way through Australia/New Zealand for 8 months. I met friends that have remained, to this day, some of my dearest.
And the friendship is what I'm really in it for.

Interests

I'm an acrobat by trade, so circus arts are high on my list. I also live on a bus full of musicians. I typically go to a concert just about every night, whether I plan to or not. Other than that, I'm someone who likes to see new things, learn about things that other people are passionate about. I can be interested in just about anything given the right circumstances.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies, I'm not huge on them, which is to say it's not my favorite means of passing time, but I've got a few favorites. Caddyshack and The Big Lebowski are high up there. I don't know, I like movies, I go to see them whenever they're around and I don't have much better to do.

Music, I love music, I finally just got my collection back. I'm a fan of most genres. I love motown, soul, and funk. I like rap and hip-hop plenty. I'm not really into metal or hardcore, but ska's okay sometimes. Country, folk, bluegrass, all good with me. Rock and roll, classic rock, 90's college rock, you know, the usual suspects. I don't know, you should check out my music library, it'll give you a much better idea.

I like books, but again, I don't know if I have, say, a list. If I've finished a book, it means that I like that book enough to finish it, which is usually good enough for me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw three total strangers meet a man completely downtrodden and defeated by his own solitude. I saw them engage him in conversation, and offer him their company, and their welcoming kindness. They adventured together through lands unfamiliar to any of them. They sang songs for a crowded breakfast restaurant. They skipped stones for hours. They travelled by train, boat, car, and camper full of (really cool) old people. They shared the human experience with one another. I saw four people remember that the magnitude and granduer of any journey pales in comparison to the company one keeps on the journey. It was pretty cool.

Teach, Learn, Share

The biggest skill I have to offer is partner acrobatics. I picked up the skill on my first couchsurfing mission. In addition to being a professional acrobat, I taught an intermediate class in Portland for 2 years. I'm always happy to help people defy gravity :).
