About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Hospitality is a great virtue - and Kallmünz is a great place to receive you.
Being also an official tourist guide of our village I enjoy showing you around...

ABOUT Us

A new chapter of my life starts being married to Gabriela Rosas born in Mexico-City - and my children are in process to move out, studying in other places....
Contact with other cultures is something we enjoy a lot, also traveling and meeting people.
Gabriela, my partner, was born and raised in Mexico City with studies of Communication and Anthropology - with speciality in Migration research and Gender studies, Speaking Spanish, English and German.
She just opened an art gallery showing her paintings (see facebook @atelierrosacolibri).

PHILOSOPHY

All people are citizens of the world, all people are individuals. Tolerance is an important virtue

If traveling a country it is best to live with the people - or even study/work there, so that you really get to know the culture.

I don`t agree to nationalistic thinking and frontiers.
All humans should have the same rights - also to choose where they want to live or travel to.

My favorite philosopher is Whitehead (Process and Reality)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We really enjoy to offer our hospitality and show our guests around in Kallmünz... and when traveling we contact couchsurfers - just to meet locals- and to get to know them, their local culture -even if we don't need a place to stay

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was hitchhiking a lot and received hospitality in many countries from people I just met on the road - learning their culture, their point of views. Also via Internet I met already some people and we met (in my town or I went to their home)- Some years ago I was with my 2 kids for 3 days in Skopje, Macedonia - being guest of a very hospital family. Couchsurfing is a very good way to meet open minded people and getting to know local people...

Interests

Music (Gabriela playing piano, myself playing viola and hurdy gurdy, we enjoy both singing)
One of my projects is to sing Christmas Carols in youtube: you can find them looking for Stawi Weihnachtslieder

Reading (we have some books in English, French, German and Spanish filling our library...)

Traveling (camping, backpacking, visiting friends...) in the region (Germany is a very beautiful and very diverse country to visit) - or in the world

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Independent movies (Peter Greenaway, Aki Kaurismäki...), Jackie Chan, The Addams Family, Shrek

Music: Classical Music (serious music of all centuries, my favorites are Bartok, Prokofieff, Schnittke, Hindemith, Schubert, Bach and many more), Independent, Industrial, Genesis, Supertramp, Peter Fox, Apocalyptica...

Books are so many: Some of my favorite writers are William Gibson (Pattern Recognition), Marion Zimmer Bradley (Darkover series), Thomas Bernhard (Alte Meister...) Rowling (Harry Potter), and the favorite of favorites Saint-Exupéry (La citadelle, Le petit prince, Vol de nuit....)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Done: Raising my children, planting a tree, building a house

Seen: The fall of the Berlin wall in November 1989. First night I was on the Kurfürstendamm seeing all the East Germans coming over to West Berlin for the first time. Second night I was on top of the wall close to the Brandenburg gate.... 7th of January 1990 I as West Berlin citizen was first time free to go to East Germany crossing the Glienicker Brücke close to Potsdam with my bike on a sunny winterday.

Teach, Learn, Share

One of my dreams is to become a consultant for personal development - who helps people with rational methods (I learned as a management consultant) and intuitive methods (like Tarot..).

Some of my friends come to me if they have difficult personal decisions to make - I help them thinking clearer what they want.
