Kia ora! We are Stef and Dickie, an NZ/UK couple based in Auckland, Aotearoa. We're coming to Italy for a wedding and doing some travelling off the back of that. Stef studied in Bologna and worked at the Guggenheim in Venice, so speaks fluent Italian (useful!). Neither of us have explored much of the south of Italy so that's what we're hoping to do this time around. Stef works as a theatre director and duty manager in an Italian restaurant, and Dickie is moving into freelance web design. We both love food, wine and music (Dickie used to be park of Jungle Syndicate in Bristol), and enjoy all sorts of outdoors activities (rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking etc).

Ciao tutti! Noi siamo Stef e Dickie, una coppia neo zelandese/inglese, e viviamo a Auckland. Si sposa il cugino di Dickie a Bellagio, e noi facciomo un paio di giri dopo di quello. Io (Stef), ho studiato ho Bologna, e ho fatto un stage al Guggenheim, quindi parlo bene italiano (scrivo malissimo pero), e sono inammorata con la cultura, cibo, e vita italiana. Ho viaggiato tanto al nord, quindi questo giro voremmo esplorare il sud! Io faccio regista teatrale e manager di un ristorante italiano/neo zelandese, e Dickie lavora freelance come web designer. Amiamo tutte due cibo, vino, birra e musica, e stare nella natura.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hosted heaps back in the day, and have done a lot of surfing across a number of trips. I hate the idea of being 'just' a turist, I always would rather get to see and experience a city properly through connecting with the people who actually live there. I love the culture of getting to stay with someone who is happy to share their home, time, and advice on the place I'm in. This is the first time my partner and I are couchsurfing together (he's been meeting people and staying with them for years without the Couchsurfing community!), so we're both really looking forward to meeting some like-minded people who can help us have the best experience in each place we go to.

Io (Stef), ho ospitato tanto nel passato, e sono stata ospitata tanto, perche non volgio fare solo turista, ma di vedere e capire bene una citta tramite la gente che proprio vivono li. Dickie ha viaggiato tantissimo, ed e riuscita a fare amicizie ed essere ospitato tantissimo vita anche senza Couchsurfing! E sempre per gli stessi ragioni. Fa schifo andare solamente nei posti turistici, noi voremmo vedere cosa c'e davero.

Stef - I used to work as a pub crawl guide in Berlin, there were some pretty amazing (bizarre, weird, totally insane), things that that entailed! // Lavorava come un ' pub crawl guide' a Berlino, quindi ho visto tante cose abbastanza wow (nel sense buona ma anche no...)

Dickie - white water rafter down the Ganges, biking the Timber Trail in NZ. // Rafting sulle rapide del Gange, mountain biking il 'Timber Trail' in Nuova Zelanda.

Teach, Learn, Share

Stef - I can teach you some very basic Maori language and how to make cakes with no eggs. // Posso insegnare un po' della lingue Maori, e come si fa le torte senza uove.

Dickie - anything web design related, and if you were thinking of taking up rock climbing he has a wealth of knowledge. // Qualsiasi cosa che si concentra con web design o l'arrampicata.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We both cook really well - Dickie can teach you how to make a mean curry using literally whatever you have available, and Stef is a master at making sauces and dips. // Dickie fa dei curries spetacolari, e Stef fa delle salsine etc buonissime. Amiamo tutte due cucinare!
