About Me

Hello there,

About twenty years ago, on January 9th 1998 I was born in a small town called Baarn, I lived in Soest for 4 years, but I have grown up in a town called Zeewolde. I went to primary school and high school here, I got my first job here and also got the urge to travel here.

My mom and my dad were always the travelling kind of people. I was 6 and 8 when I went to America, yes I was spoiled I guess. I flew here and there and saw a lot of the world. However I have only seen a small piece of it. Therefore I want to see more of it. Now that I'm an adult (I guess?) I want to do it on my own. So this year 2018, I'm going backbacking!

During my first trip I am going several places. I'm going to Paris, city of uhh... history? Anyway, I'm very, very exited about going to the catacombs, seeing the amazing architecture and nightlife, I also want to go to the Louvre. After the city of history I'll take the next train to Marseille. With that the first part of my journey will have ended.

The second part of my trip will start when I board my train to Italy's Pisa. I can be a cliché and act like I'm pushing the famous tower of Pisa. After being a cliché it's time to move on to my most looked forward to city, Florence, the city of invention. This city is so rich of history and I want to drown myself in that. I first got interested in the city by... playing a video game called Assassin's creed. However after watching many documentaries and reading about the city, it's my #1 on my to-do-list. From Florence I'm going to Rome, I can't skip that and from there I'll travel to Naples and Pompeii.

The journey home has only got 2 stops. Bern in Switzerland, let's buy some Sochertorte... I have no idea how you write it, but it's a delicious chocolate cake! My last stop before returning to The Netherlands will be Frankfurt (Germany). I hope I can see all of the places that I've listed. However, it's supposed to be an adventure, so if things change, that isn't really that bad.

Back home I'll be returning to my normal life of being a college student. I currently study journalism & Communication at MHBO Academy in Utrecht. I finished high school in 2014. I love to go out with friends or go hit them up and drink a few beers at their place or mine. I love talking politics and social issues, as I'm very politically inclined. I love to play video games, especially with my friends online. I'm also a fitness dude, :D. I love working out and I think it's going to be one of the thing I'll be missing most during my trip. I'm also a musician. I play the piano and also play drums. Piano really is my passion, so maybe I'll be able to give a private concert!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I hope that after checking this description you'll let me stay at your place if I need a place to stay! See you when I see you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Like I said in my bio, this year I'll be making my first solo backpacking trip through Europe! :D
However, even if I'd only be staying at hostels, the cost of my accommodation would still be pretty high. That's when my mom, who's travelled all over the world when she was young recommended that I'd try couch surfing. She did it when she was young and told me most of her stays were the best travel experiences that she'd ever had.
