ABOUT ME

I'm a filmmaker and artist living in large house with five other people. I spend a good deal of my time co-curating a film series known as Balagan, which showcases avant-garde and marginalized film works. In my free time, I like to collect and mess around with obscure musical instruments, or attempt to create my own with my limited knowledge of electronics. I am also an avid bicyclist, and enjoy cooking and tending to my edible garden.

I like films of all varieties from narrative, to experimental, documentary, and animation. I generally like the films of Stan Brakhage, Chick Strand, Werner Herzog, Terry Gilliam, Jafar Panahi, Sam Fuller, and Sergio Leone, to name just a few.

I love 60/70s era Ethiopian music, Cambodian rock, Andean folk, Jamaican music, classic soul, punk, psych, funk, surf, early blues, jazz, electronic and experimental music... any sort of music that affects me on a visceral, emotional, or intellectual level. Some staples include Leonard Cohen, Sun Ra, Mahmoud Ahmed, Kourosh Yaghmei, Los Kjarkas, Jimmy Cliff, and many more.

I spent just under a week in a cabin in the forests of northwestern Russia. The forest floor was covered in wild blueberry bushes as far as the eye could see, which we harvested and made a jam from.
