ABOUT ME

One interesting thing about me is that I really hate talking about me, and I never really know what should I say to describe myself. I would say that I'm smiley, candid (sometimes too much), funny, adventurous, heavy sleeper, easy-going but a bit shy at first, and not stupid. I like to talk and I really love to discover people, places and stories.
I can cook italian (and sicilian) tipical dishes and teach my hosts how to scare their friends sounding like a Godfather's character. In Sicily (as in Ancient Greek and many others parts of modern world, I guess) hospitality is sacred. The host must not harm the guest, the guest must not harm the host. I could never be a burden for my hosts or mess their houses.

“Every life is inexplicable, I kept telling myself. No matter how many facts are told, no matter how many details are given, the essential thing resists telling. To say that so and so was born here and went there, that he did this and did that, that he married this woman and had these children, that he lived, that he died, that he left behind these books or this battle or that bridge – none of that tells us very much.”
― Paul Auster, The New York Trilogy

PHILOSOPHY

"Me imperturbe, standing at ease in Nature, / master of all or mistress of all, aplomb in the midst of irrational things, / imbued as they, passive, receptive, silent as they, / finding my occupation, poverty, notoriety, foibles, crimes, less important than I thought, [..] me wherever my life is lived, / o to be self-balanced for contingencies, / o to confront night, storms, hunger, ridicule, accidents, rebuffs, as the trees and animals do."
- Walt Whitman, Leaves of grass

"Il dolore non è affatto un privilegio, un segno di nobiltà, un ricordo di Dio. Il dolore è una cosa bestiale e feroce, banale e gratuita, naturale come l'aria. E' impalpabile, sfugge a ogni presa e a ogni lotta; vive nel tempo, è la stessa cosa che il tempo."
- Cesare Pavese, Il mestiere di vivere

"La serenità è un dovere morale. Le persone scontrose che importunano gli altri con i loro problemi le considero irriguardose. (Serenity is a moral duty. I find disrespectful grumpy people who bother the others with their problems)"
- H. M. Enzensberger

“It always stimulates me to discover new examples of my own prejudice and stupidity, to realize that I don't know half as much as I think I do.”
― Paul Auster, Oracle Night
