About Me

I am a Danish biologist who specializes in the social networks of South African giraffe. I studied the majestic (if a little ungraceful) animals in 2015 in Pilanesberg National Park, SA and defended my thesis in April 2016.

Now, I am back to traveling and trying to make a plan which doesn't involve selling my soul to a bank in order to get a mortgage, which will effectively enslave me for the forseeable future. There simply must be a better way to live than that.

Let life in and say yes, whenever you're in doubt, and you'll live a much more interesting life.
That's all I want - a life less ordinary, come what may.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I prefer hanging out with local, real people, and like most people on sites like this, I do not care for touristy places and hotels. If I wanted to sit by the pool and drink mai tais, I could do that anywhere. I want to experience the specific wonders of the place, I am visiting and have unique experiences.
I have no expectations beforehand, I just want an honest experience of the place, I am at. Who better to get that with than someone who lives there?
As a host, I have no experience yet, and one reason is that I don't have a home. I recently lived at the office provided for me and before that, I lived in the nature park where I did my field work. But i will host as soon as I have a place to do it.

Interests

Actually, I have found that EVERYTHING really is interesting, if you give it enough attention. That seems to be because people are the interesting part, and I like people. Interacting with real people of all walks of life.

But more to the point I guess, my own active interests often revolve around returning to a more natural way of living. Cutting out the middle man and much of these modern conveniences, that we surround ourselves with in order to find out what is true and real.

I hike, hunt, study nature, run and care about what I put into my body.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music-wise, I listen to all genres under the sun, but these days, I actually rarely listen to music. Wierd, come to think of it. Music used to be a biig part of my life. I like a good movie and prefer those with a little more substance to them than Transformers. Not to say I don't enjoy a good action flick, but I do mean a GOOD action flick :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Decided to stop pretending I am like everyone else seems to be and started living my life according to my own ideals. Everything has been more awesome since then. I let life in, and when in doubt, I say yes rather than no, and it has made all the difference.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a personal trainer as well as a biologist, and soon (written in July 2015) when it is up and running , I will have a blog for adventures and training tips for all who are interested in personal development, be it emotional, physical or whatever. My core value is something along the lines of "be all that you can be".

What I Can Share with Hosts

Something wierd from Denmark.

And good conversation from a completely open and non-judgemental point of view. I find that honesty is very likely the single most important thing in the world. With others, and especially with oneself.
