About Me
Hey there!
I'm Steffi, a 24 year old traveller from Luxembourg.
Born and bred in this small European country, I decided it was time for a bigger adventure after I finished school and moved to England in 2014, where I studied English and Creative Writing in Winchester. As I was still eager to learn more after graduating, I moved to Edinburgh and did a Masters in Comparative Literature there. I grew very fond of Scotland during my time there and still visit regularly!
After interning at the European Parliament in Brussels for half a year, I decided the public sector wasn't really for me and I decided to move back to Luxembourg, where I am currently working at a theatre, teaching Luxembourgish in the evenings and working on my career as an aspiring writer :)
My current living situation doesn't allow me to host people (yet), but I'm happy to meet interesting travellers visiting my home country if I have the time, so if you feel like we'd get along, don't hesitate to drop me a line!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Traveling is such a fulfilling experience, especially when you get to hang out with locals who can show you their home through their eyes. That's why I want to try my best to show people the small corner of my world.
I believe that offering your couch, floorspace or spare bedroom to travellers in exchange for learning more about someone else's culture is a great concept! So if you're just looking for a free place to crash while you're travelling, don't bother messaging me. I try to host people whenever my schedule allows me to, and I try to make their stay worthwhile.
I am a queer-friendly host and try to make travellers from all kinds of backgrounds welcome in my home.
Interests
As I studied literature and creative writing, I read and write a lot. I have a blog, but I also write poems and fiction, if time allows.
I am also into philosophy and learning new languages - I even teach my native language, Luxembourgish, part-time.
I have been vegan for 5 years, and love to cook or a coffee with my guests/hosts.

Music, Movies, and Books
It's hard to narrow it down, but some of my favourite books are The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera and Death in Venice by Thomas Mann.
I love listening to Daughter, Arctic Monkeys, Drake, The Weeknd, Alt-J and jazz. Recent discovery - Tash Sultana!
I enjoy movies that depict the complexity of love and relationships, like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Eyes Wide Shut, which are definitely amongst my favourites. I also like pretty much everything by David Lynch and Yorgos Lanthimos.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Can't just name one, so:
In 2011, I attended an international youth camp in Finland and lived in a wooden cottage village near a beautiful lake for a week whilst discovering the Nordic culture.
In 2015, I spent three weeks backpacking through Europe discovering new cities and cultures.
In 2016, I went to Berlin for a week all by myself.
In 2018, I spent one month travelling around the US.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love hearing about where you come from, what you do and what brings you to my couch. I can teach you some words in Luxembourgish or we can cook a meal together. You can bring me a copy of your favourite book!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Apart from a place to sleep, I will try to take my time to show you around if I'm not too busy - and hopefully offer you a comfortable place to sleep!
