Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Although I've been a member for some time, I'm new to this. A fellow traveler I met told me about it on my Eurotrip and I thought it would be a great idea to meet people who actually live in the cities that I travel to. I didn't get the chance to actually stayed with anyone then but I have some big travels coming up so I was hoping to give it a shot now.

Interests

Transportation (Transit in particular)
History (pretty much any kind will interest me)
Delicious food
Football (of the American variety) and NCAA basketball

Movie: LOTR (I'm a Tolkien fan)

Book: LOTR (told you I'm a Tolkien fan)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've gotten to see come pretty amazing things in my travels, but one amazing thing I did was on my first trip abroad. I biked 40 miles with my buddy from Bayeux, Normandy through the beaches to Pointe du Hoc and back. It was physically challenging, emotionally moving and intellectually stimulating.

(Because I had them listed from before the site upgrade)...
The Great Wall of China
Stonehenge
The Eiffel Tower (esp on Bastille Day)
The Colosseum, The Pantheon, The Forum and Palentine Hill
Venice
Notre Dame de Paris
The grounds of Versailles
Victoria's Peak
Hiked in the Alps
Cape Coast Castle
Taj Mahal
Sunset on the Mehrangarh Fort

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I'm a PhD but I don't dream of being a prof, that's not to say I'm not willing to share my thoughts on city planning or transportation.

Learn: About the city I'm in. I love cities and love to get to know them.

Share: Travel stories of course.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I picked up some southern hospitality from living in Atlanta, GA the last 5 years; I used to be a bartender so I know my way around a cocktail; I have a wealth of knowledge about urban transportation; I also really love to eat so I'm always willing to share a meal.

Countries I’ve Visited

China, France, Ghana, India, Italy, Monaco, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom
