About Me

Hi there.

DISCLAIMER: NOT HOSTING AT THE MOMENT. WILL HOST ONCE I'VE MOVED INTO MY NEW HOME PROPERLY.

My name is Stelios and I am from Cyprus. I was born and raised, till 11 years old, in South Africa. I am fluent in both English and Greek, and am currently learning Spanish.

I love to travel and I hit the road every chance I get. When I am not travelling, I enjoy using CS as a motivator to get back on the road. I enjoy hosting travellers and sharing travel stories and showing them my town and country.

I am energetic and enjoy visiting places I have never been to. I am also lazy and enjoy sitting in and enjoying a good movie or just relaxing all day in my pyjamas. I am easy going and great company. I am very respectful of others and their privacy, but if you feel like asking for advice or company, I am more than happy to help.

I am very open minded, enjoy a plant based diet (vegan) and occasionally smoke. I do not smoke indoors, but there are many verandas and outside areas to have a smoke.

I do not have any pets but don't mind if you do.

I do however have 2 rules - Do what you like when you like it (within reason) and be tidy.

I understand the nature of CS has changed over the past few years, and it is used as a dating/spam platform, filled with inactive users and creepy dudes. In order to filter all these people out, when requesting a stay, please insert the sentence "Who moved my cheese?" as a header.

I do not like template requests and would like to know a bit more about you. Tell me a few things that will make me say I would like to meet this interesting person. Here's a few questions you could answer:

Are you travelling, just visiting or planning on moving here? Let me know why you've decided to come to Cyprus.

How long do you intend to stay on the island?

What do you like doing in your spare time?

What sort of music are you into? What do you listen to when relaxing at home, going out and do you enjoy live music?

Looking forward to meeting you and showing you around my country.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been a CS member since 2010, but had to create a new profile.

I have used CS in 3 different continents and many countries. I believe in the CS community and because I have been hosted by many and have met some amazing people (as well as not so amazing ones) throughout my travels, I would like to extend that courtesy and friendship shown to me by hosting travellers and CS members.

There are many creeps and weirdos within this community, as well as many inactive users, but there are a lot of real genuine active members who feel the same way about CS as I do.

We all know that CS is used for free accommodation and that is the main reason for joining. Even though this is the case, staying with a local, in a neighbourhood and not a hotel or tourist area, you get the feel and experience the country in a different way. You meet your host who is an amazing individual and create friendships that last pretty long.

CouchSurfing is an experience and not just a free stay somewhere. Your repayment could be in the form of a meal, a song, a skill... something you can give back that is invaluable and will create a memory for you and your host.

Have some courtesy and be respectful. Your experience will already be richer!

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to all sorts of music but my preferred genre is metal. I don't mind the music as long as it is not top 20 pop/radio music. There are many music events in Cyprus, and I really enjoy live music.

I am a bit geeky when it comes to movies and books. I enjoy science fiction and superheroes. Big fan of both Marvel and DC, as well as some graphic novels. I enjoy smart humour and complex plots.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I trekked up Corcovado, to Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil.

Travelled by bus on the "Trampoline of Death" road, for 3 hours, in Colombia.

Seen the Northern Lights in Norway.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy sharing stories and experiences with others. I enjoy learning from new people and seeing different points of views.

Anything you have to offer would be greatly received. Be that a new recipe, a new book or movie, new music, a skill like playing an instrument or juggling or even a joke or language.

I feed off positive energy and dislike negativity.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my home with you. Take you to see the sights and show you around. Cyprus hospitality as a great reputation and we intend to keep it that way.
