About Me

Hey there and welcome to my profile! I am happy you landed here :)

So, to say something about myself:

In a nutshell, I am a hippie at heart with a tendency to be sarcastic and sad about this world, but still try to change it. At this point in my life I try to convince myself of the beauty of life and everything it has to offer (in a desperate yet hopeful way).

If that summary doesn't scare you off, feel free to read further :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After a few experiences, I can certainly say that Couchsurfing is the best way to travel. Not because it's perfect. Not because there have never been some very weird or even frightening moments. For me, Couchsurfing is like life itself- colourful, diversified and unpredictable.
I met the most generous and inspiring people on my travels and there are many more yet to come. Couchsurfing is truly a gift which gives you the chance to gain trust in people (again) and make the most unique experiences you will never forget in your life.

Interests

My interests vary just like my personality does over life. I'd say I'm mostly interested in philosophical and thoughtful topics which is reflected by the media I consume and the conversations I like to have with other people. Okay, that probably sounds way too serious :D I guess you will find out more about that if we hang out.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: mostly indie (rock) and postpunk. Lately I somehow got on an 80's trip and could'nt escape it yet :D I also love good movie soundtracks and instrumentals. I try to stay as open-minded as possible because there is so much more great music to discover if you just give it a chance!

Favourite Bands: Interpol,Editors,White Lies,Bauhaus,Joy division,Muse,Bloc Party,Daughter,The Strokes,David Bowie,New Order,The National, Hans Zimmer,Cinematic Orchestra

Movies: Probably everything that makes you think and overthink the way you experience life and your perception of it. The best movies will stay in your head for at least a few days after you watched them...

Cloud Atlas, American Beauty,Another Earth,Pan's Labyrinth, Fight Club, Into the wild,Slumdog Millionaire, Never let me go, The East, Spirited away (Studio Ghibli generally!),I Origins,Interstellar,Gone Girl,Eternal Sunshine

TV Series: Breaking Bad, GoT, Sherlock, Rick and Morty, Stranger Things, Bojack Horseman, Fleabag

Books: Haruki Murakami is my favourite autthor. I also like Oliver Sachs and Irvin D. Yalom and many other authors whose names i forgot!

Games: Why isn't that a category here? Sometimes, the best thing you can do is disappear into a game and forget your own life for a while (not in a sad way....maybe just a little bit). :)

Senua's Sacrifice, Life is strange, The Last of us, Beyond two souls, GTA, Heavy Rain

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing? Okay, that's hard.
If I had to decide, it's probably the summer holidays in 2016...:

Last year I travelled to Greece (Thessaloniki area) with my boyfriend to help refugees. We stayed there for two weeks and did as much as we could: organizing donations in a warehouse, staying in a refugee camp and helping there in different areas (kitchen, distribution, child care).
It probably was one of the most interesting, exhausting and emotional times in my life. I will never forget the faces of the people we met.
We cried, laughed, danced together. We helped each other and we tried to give people strength who were in the probably most difficult situation a human being can experience.
We are still in contact with our "favourite" family (yes, this will be a thing if you are a volunteer!) and I hope to see them again sometime.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't want to make a list of the things we could learn from each other. It depends of what kind of person you are and what we will talk about :) Generally, I think its one of the biggest gifts to learn from other people and teach others as well.

I am a big supporter of the sharing economy (one of the reasons I am here) and believe that we have enough on this planet to support everybody- if we just distribute fairly and share as much as we can :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Funny stories. Sad stories. Experiences. A cigarette maybe (if I am smoking at that time :D)
