About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be myself, always. No joke.

ABOUT ME

My dear friend Heather said it best: "Informed, yet playful. A vivacious raccoon: the Kendra Sledzinski story."

PHILOSOPHY

I think every thing we face is a challenge of choice. We choose how to perceive everything -- literally. I tend to choose thinking with a positive voice and try with all my might to make others see the good in bad, realize how lucky they are and how many small joys we take for granted every single day. Forget the big picture. It's all the little things that make the whole so great. Some think this is naive and foolish, but I think they just always wake up with a bad attitude. I have no intention of ever living any differently. It's hard to feel any less than stellar when you're busy being grateful.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Both of my roommates are on here and I used to be in another form, so I figured it was time to get back on track.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I used to host DIY shows in the basement of my lovely house outside of Pittsburgh. If venues fell through, I served as backup and also a place for traveling bands to crash. What started as just friends from far away turned into friends of friends of friends. I'm always happy to help anyone.

Now I'm hoping to utilize it myself before my big move to Portland, Oregon, this summer.

Interests

coffee, creativity, learning, loving, nice lighting, adventures, warmth, small joys, free stuff, supposed archaic analog technologies, writing, DIY, tangible mail, polaroids, building a library of music and books

Music, Movies, and Books

I like my music best with a vinyl fuzz or cassette hiss. It's not that I'm pretentious; my favorite bands simply sound better that way. Don't believe me? Hear Wilco's "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" on a record player or Sonic Youth's "Dirty" and you'll regret the day you downloaded them in a digital format.

I tend to say that "Ghost World" is my favorite movie, but it's really just one of too many.

And I love my favorite book, "The Giving Tree," so much that I pay homage to it on my back.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've acquired one too many scars trying to make the people I love laugh.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm pretty damn crafty and would be happy to make you a mix with any theme you'd like for your travels -- and a homemade case to go along with it.
