Hello! I am Se-Jin Park, but most of my friends just call me Stellar.

I am a graduate student in Sogang University in Seoul, South Korea. I am studying Philosophy, and Art and Technology.

I love traveling around the world because it broadens my perspectives and gives me the opportunity to meet new people and get inspired from them!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In 2014, I stayed in Bohol, Philippines as a volunteer for a month. I stayed in local convent and commuted to the local elementary school where I teach by tricycle. I was invited to traditional festivals in local church, family dinners, and so on. There I leared meeting locals and becoming friends with them doubles happiness and excitements of travelers.

So it was a big surprise when one of my friends, who has traveled all around the world, introduced me Couchsurfuing.com. I am really happy with the fact that there(here) is the place for people to gather and find friends from all over the world.

So far, I don't have any Couchsurfing experience, but I am expecting it very much.

Interests

I am interested in arts, music and literature. I am a big fan of child books, novels, and essays on social issues. I regularly go to theater to watch live dramas and concert hall to listen to orchestra symphonies. I recently started collecting interesting historical anecdotes.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC
I love both listening to and playing. I have played violin since I was 8, so I am very interested in classical music. I enjoy Pop and Soft Rock, too. Songs with beautiful, poetic, warm-hearted, and thoughtful lyrics are the best. I have certain tast in vocal tones but cannot depict it accutrately.

MOVIES
I am not picky with movies. Movies having great story, casting my favorite actors/actresses, and showing beautiful scenes always satisfy me. Movie people & company I love are...Christopher Nolan, Anne Hathaway, Julie Andrews, Audrey Hepburn, Gregory Peck, Wes Anderson, James McAvoy, Peter Jackson, Jun Ho Bong, Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Pixar, etc... (The list is forever-expanding!)

BOOKS
I love writers such as Raymond Carver, C.S.Lewis, Charlies Dickens, Nikos Kazantzakis, Erich Kaestner, and Roald Dahl. And, of course there are numberless Korean writers I adore.

PHILOSOPHERS
As a student majoring in philsophy, I have several favorite philosophers. I like St. Augustin, Hannah Arendt, Merleau Ponty(especially his view on paintings), Soren Kierkegaard. Among the Eastern & Korean philosophers, I like Yak-yong Chung (he is even from my hometown!), the philosopher and the social reformer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1) I've done paragliding. I still remember the sunset I watched while flying the the sky!

2) As I already told, I have done volunteering works in Bohol, Philippines. I taught ,with three peers, children music, art, and outdoor activities. We held recitals, where all of the parents, teachers, and even administraters came to see.

3) I am working in the music project in Seoul, for creating South-North Korean exchange through music!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook several simple Korean food. It would be delightful for me if I could introduce Korean dishes to the hosts.
