About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a new grad now! I studied kinesiology at the University of Calgary, and am a former student ambassador raised in Calgary, Canada. I've just set out on my first backpacking journey! When I adventure back home in 2018 I hope to return to school, and one day share my affection for humanity through work as a physician (I also think space is pretty cool). But for now, I hope I can learn more about you as a host, and the wonderful land you're from!

MY MANIFESTO

To challenge myself to experience new cities, meet amazing people, and explore their culture to the brim. Although I'm not much of a party animal, I'm willing to try most things at least once!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm exploring the world, and I would love to embrace new friendships at each step on the journey. CS is a tool to learn more about other people and places, which help me learn more about myself.

Interests

Honestly, I'm a pretty big nerd. I love science, especially about the human body and space!! My dream is to be an astronaut, but for now I hope to study the overlap of the human body and space: aerospace physiology! I've been riding motorcycles for 5 years, and do my own work too. Riding to the mountains, and hiking/camping are favourites as well. I love nature and the world around me, and experiencing it to learn its beauty is my goal.

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS
I have a few books on the go, right now I'm reading 1984 and The Leadership Challenge. Just finished Packing for Mars and When Breath Becomes Air.
Pretty much any book related to space or science fits me like a glove.

MUSIC
I love live music (because I'm crap at playing instruments and appreciate the skill required), but for long journeys or to brighten my mood, folk music or indie-pop are my go-to's.

MEDIA
I'm a big Game of Thrones fan and of The Expanse. Relaxing watching Netflix helps me recharge my batteries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

~ Carried an injured dog down a mountain in Transylvania during a thunderstorm (2017)

~ Yoga on the lawn of the Parliament of Canada (2016)

~ Full time elected undergraduate representative for 30,000 fantastic students for two years (2015-2017)

~ Emceed a Q&A with the UN Secretary General for International Youth Day (2016)

~ Held the beating heart of a live animal with my bare hands (2013)

Teach, Learn, Share

I LOVE to cook, especially learning new recipes! Food is how I show appreciation to others, and it would mean the world to me if you shared your knowledge of food, and could teach me a recipe in return for a bottle of wine. Pasta is my go-to, but I'll let you judge my cooking for yourself!

Enjoying a new friend's company and sharing stories from growing up a stones throw from the Rocky Mountains would be my pleasure. If I can inspire you to visit Canada, I'd love to host you in return when I go back home and show you my country!

I hope I never stop learning.

My core values are respect, curiosity, and diligence. I hope I can show you how they shape my life!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm just a surfer for now, as I moved back home with my parents back in Canada, but I hope to pay it forward when I fly the coop again back home!
