About Me

I wish I could say that I can speak Swahili, but I can't.
I am in my final year of studying engineering - hopefully completing my master's.

To cut to the chase: I love anything and everything that different. Show me the little theatre with worn-out chairs or the bar with a sea-beaten barman. Adventures should be noteworthy and shareable. I love the outdoors. I do not mind the cold, or a rocky bed, or cramping feet, as long as it is rewarded with a great experience.

My defining trait is my love for coffee. Second to that is my love for books!

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite book is tough. I love the works of the late Terry Pratchett. Bill Watterson's work is infallible.

I love quiet acoustic music.

Movies - anything. Star Wars, Citizen Kane, Fargo, Good Will Hunting, Manchester by the Sea.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My flatmate and I hiked the in Jonkershoek mountain area every weekend for seven consecutive weeks. Each session was eight to twelve hours long. In the last session we attempted - and succeeded - in completing the Jonkershoek Traverse. We scaled seven different peaks in a time of 14 hours and 30 minutes. There exists no real route, this is why we hiked there for so many consecutive weeks.

I quote Adventure Inc: "The route is only 31km, but with a total ascent of 3500m+, extreme technicality, scrambling and exposure to extreme conditions makes this a demanding and challenging course."

We intend to attempt it again, since the record is 8h30, we aim to beat the 10h mark. It was one of the most challenging - yet rewarding - experiences of my life.
