About Me

Hello,

I am Stephanie, pleased to meet you.

I have been living in Manchester for around 6 years (it's pretty good here, so if you have decided to come to Manchester - good choice!). When I am not at work (I work Monday-Friday 8:45-4:30pm) I enjoy spending time with my friends sharing a glass of wine, reading, getting arts and crafty, visiting exhibitions, going to festivals, dancing and pootling around on Parisienne (my bicycle). That's just a little bit too listy for my liking.

I have just finished a ski season working as a chef in Montriond in Morzine. I road tripped back with a few friends and an old blue VW camper across France camping along the way (it was a little bit nippy - not the warmest in April, we were still pretty high up!). A friend and I are now doing a road trip around the west coast of Ireland.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I decided to join Couchsurfing because I reckon that it is probably a way better way to get truer idea of a place, and what it's about.

Interests

I have a variety of interests, arts and crafts, reading, cycling and I love cooking and experimenting with recipes. Outdoors is pretty excellent camping and walking are both excellent ways to while away the hours.

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently I am really enjoying Tame Impala, The Earlies, Temples and Beach House. I also love 1920-40s jazzy records, like Fats Waller, Duke Ellington and Billie Holiday. I also like David Bowie, Pulp, Fleetwood Mac, Alice Russell, Femi Kuti, Dandy Warhols, Graham Coxon, Four Tet, Ezra Furman and the Boyfriends the list can go on.

Bookwise, my favourite is Lorrie Moore - she is funny and witty and her words make me feel better about most things. If you haven't picked up a Lorrie Moore book, you probably should.

One of my favourite films, that I watch over and over again is I Heart Huckabees. I also enjoy pretty much everything by Michel Gondry

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have finally mastered riding about on my bicycle with no hands. I am dead proud.

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak English and would be happy to help anyone improve their English.

I have just started teaching myself French and also attending pottery classes.

Sharing is caring.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share some culinary delights, and lots of fun!

I like exploring and it's always nice to show someone a city that they've not been to before. It's like looking at it with fresh eyes.

I would be more than happy to show you around the city. I also have a car, so if you are wanting to explore somewhere further afield and a little bit more green and lush, like the Lake District or the Peak District, I will happily take you, if I am free - of course.
