About Me

Stephanie Kui isn't my real name (it's not in my passport/ID but people do call me Stephanie), and my surname is really weird even for my home country. My real name is even weirder, people usually have trouble guessing my gender just from my name. Currently studying Architecture, kinda loving and hating it. Also kinda can't wait to graduate, but also can't bear to. Thinking of ways to make travelling a constant in my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet locals and make new friends! I've backpacked a few times and stayed in hostels mainly, made friends but were all fellow backpackers too. Would definitely love to make friends with locals too and gain some insight into their culture.

Interests

Discovering new places, especially natural landscapes and scenery. And also good places to eat at. And also (over) planning for my next backpacking trip.

Music, Movies, and Books

I usually listen to whatever's playing on the local radio. Otherwise my favourite songs from my mp3 are from OneRepublic, Echosmith, Belle and Sebastian, Disney and a mix of random pop songs.

I love cartoon animations e.g. How to Train your Dragon, The Incredibles, Kungfu Panda, Meet the Robinsons etc. I love how animated characters can portray expressions so comedically. If it's movies with human actors then probably Her and Silver Lining Playbook. They're more thought-provoking for me. And of course I love the Harry Potter series - the books ONLY.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did a cycling trip through six islands in Japan. It is actually a lot easier than it sounds, but still really awesome. Oh, and I got caught and blacklisted (no fine though) by the Singapore customs for trying to bring back a packet of chewing gum from Malaysia.

Teach, Learn, Share

Trying to learn anything and everything about the universe.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well, I can share how it is like living in a small city state (Singapore). And candies that I usually bring around in my backpack. I can bring you around Singapore if you're planning a trip there!

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, North Korea, Taiwan, Thailand
