About Me

"Soul wrapped in flesh and bone, flawed human being, eternal learner. "

I'm an outgoing person who loves to have a good time. I appreciate the good in the world which is why I always try to look for it in everyone and every thing. Patience is a virtue, one that has to be practiced daily and love is to be given without measure. I truly believe a positive outlook in life will make it better and that if your head is going to be in the clouds then your feet should be on the ground.

I am a Dominican Doctor in medicine, currently studying to validate my degree in the United States to opt for a pediatrics residency. I am also a nature, health, well being and animal lover, a yoga and fitness enthusiast and dessert devourer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

At the end of 2014 I made myself a promise of spending a little more time on myself.
Studying for the steps had definitely taken its toll on my physical, mental and emotional health, and although I knew it had to be done to ensure a better future for myself, I also knew I had to take better care of myself to be able to enjoy that future.

So I decided to explore the world around me. I had (still have) an immense list of places to see and things to do that I had "someday-ed". I'll do it SOMEDAY, I'll go SOON. I decided 2015 would be the year of NOW.

And so I did, I hiked to the Pico Duarte (highest peak in the Caribbean), visited beautiful beaches I had never been to like Isla Catalina (where I snorkeled), Playa Rincon and Cayo levantado, scuba-dived in Sosua, zip-lined and free fell in Laguna Dudu and jumped off of every charco in Damajagua.

Soon I leave the beautiful Dominican Republic to keep pursuing my future as a pediatrician and I'd like to continue my journeys in The United States, and hopefully around the world with the help of Couchsurfing and all of the incredible people willing to open their doors and lives to me.

Interests

I'm open to new experiences.
Like I said before I love nature (camping, hiking, beaches, mountains, and so on), extreme sports, yoga, exercising. I also enjoy lounging with a good book, conversing, cooking and of course, EATING :)

Music, Movies, and Books

A little bit of this, a little bit of that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-I've participated in many medical outreaches, servicing those who do not have enough money to go to health institutes.

-I was a part of a children's diabetic camp, helping children and their families understand that juvenile diabetes is a condition, not a disease.

-I spent a year in the country side of the Dominican Republic working for the government treating patients in a primary attention clinic.

-I decided to love and appreciate myself after a childhood and early adulthood of being overweight. I fell in love with nutrition, fitness and well being and lost around 30 pounds. I still struggle with self image, self love and this healthy lifestyle.

-I self teach myself yoga with online information and educational videos, and worked at a yoga studio for about a year as a receptionist to be able to immerse myself more into the yoga world.
