About Me

Nice to meet you :)

First impressions of me is that I am shy. But once I warm up to you, you'll know the real me.

I like animals. I have the sweetest golden retriever and I do not smoke.
I also like long walks by the beach and big hugs.
(Okay this section was just for jokes since it seems like I'm typing up a dating profile)
But with all seriousness and just so we're both clear, I am not interested in hooking up (aka having a sexual relationship)
Is it weird that I mentioned that?

If you're still here...
So, why travel?
I'm traveling to know more about myself.
I want to discover and explore who I can become, away from the things I'm used to being around.
I want to learn something I never knew.
I want to gain new insights and perspectives.
Maybe get lost and use the opportunity to be whoever I want to be.

What I learned about myself when I traveled:
I learned that I tend to do things very spontaneously.
Planning isn't my forte. But I try.

I am a student. Budget traveler.
I am fluent in English and Cantonese.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My first Couchsurfing experience happened in South Korea, where I traveled for the first time by myself. Something about traveling alone feels very rewarding. The freedom of just doing something simply because I want to is empowering. But I must say it's also quite addicting.
I'm back in Canada now and the travel bugs I had while I was in Korea are still acting up. The withdrawal symptoms are getting increasingly severe by the day. Uh Oh.

So let's reminisce my days in Korea okay?
I wasn't hosted by any Couchsurfers as I chose to stay at hostels. Since it was my first time traveling alone and with no experience in Couchsurfing at all, I thought it would be safer if I just stick with hostels.
However I did meet up with Couchsurfers who offered to take me around and explore the city with me. They were one of the biggest highlights of my trip and because of them my trip was better than I imagined.

At the beginning of the trip, I was afraid of only seeing the country through a tourist lens. It's something I want to avoid as it doesn't depict a country truly.
I am very grateful that they gave me their time and shared their personal views on the country with me. And since Korea had it's presidential election during my stay, I was able to learn some of the politics and what the citizens wanted to see for the future of their country.
By the end of the trip, I learned and gained a lot from my travels in Korea. On top of that, I made amazing friends who I hope to keep in contact with.
I will cherish these memories and even now, just thinking about my time in Korea makes me smile.
Thank you guys! :D

That's it of me gushing over my trip. (For now)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When planning a trip, I get incredibly nervous on not planning it well enough to see and experience the true beauty of the country - don't want to see the country only through a rose-colored touristy perspective. I believe that Couchsurfing is an opportunity for me to break open that touristy perspective, giving me a chance to learn the culture of the country from the locals.

I also believe that sharing laughs and memories with the people I meet on a trip is what makes the trip most memorable.

Interests

Exploring and experiencing.
I recently started a hobby of people watching.

  • exploring new places
  • meeting new people
  • having fun

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything that interests me. Which is pretty much everything.
I don't like to stick to a specific genre - that would be limiting myself, so I like to try a bit of everything.
That being said, I do find myself to be attracted to movies that display the dynamics human emotions.

And I cried to the beginning scenes of Up. (Embarrassing)

Hmm, I read all of the Harry Potter series. ;D
And on my train ride to Busan, I read The Subtle Art of not Giving a Fuck by Mark Mason. It's a pretty good read in my opinion, so I would recommend it if you're interested.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I smiled and said hi.

Teach, Learn, Share

If I have anything delicious, I'll share it with you. :D

I believe through interactions we'll both learn something from each other. And I hope that our time together will be something we can look back and smile on.

If you're interested in teaching me about the cuisine in your culture, I'm happy to learn.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'll make you smile :)

I'm offering to make breakfast, that is, if you dare to try it. Haha. I'm not the best cook, but I promise it'll be something edible.

And if you have time and willing, I'd like to take time to get know each other.
