About Me

🆙*VERY IMPORTANT*

CS is a new-friends-meet-up platform for me. Please DO NOT message me if you are just looking for romantics or intimacy or anything similar. I prefer to hang out with verified users, but it's not a necessary condition.

💁🏻‍♀️ABOUT ME

I was born in Southen China (Cantonese speaker), studied in Hong Kong and Macau, and currently living with my husband in Beijing, the capital of China.

After graduating from journalism school a decade ago, currently, I am working for an international non-government organization that focuses on environmental protection.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had a super great first-time experience of CS in Israel and Palestine. That's a totally different travel thing than my previous solo trip, and I really enjoy hanging out with local ppl. Make me feel more connected than just being a tourist.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Converted to Buddhism when I was age 15! Although I am not a vegetarian, I do believe its philosophy: Do no harm and Karmic Retribution.

- Help a primary school in a small village of Swiss to set up rooftop solar panels to produce more renewable energy.

- Took a cricket ball lesson in a refugee camp while I was traveling in Lebanon. My coaches were Syrian girls and they were just AMAZING.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some basic Chinese and tips for you to "survive" in this great and complex but still great country 😎

After 3 years of pandemic lockdown, China has reopened its borders. As a foreigner, you can travel in China for one month and also have the option to transit visa-free for up to 144 hours. However, please note the following:

1. Information on Google Maps and Apple Maps may not be accurate or updated in a timely manner. The most reliable options are Baidu Maps or Amap, but unfortunately, they are only available in Chinese.

2. It is recommended to download a paid VPN (Virtual Private Network) in advance; otherwise, you might lose contact with your family : )

3. Purchasing a local SIM card from a state-owned communication store at the airport would be very helpful. The cost for a 15-day 5G plan is approximately $12 USD.

4. Most attractions in Beijing, such as Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, parks, and museums, require booking reservations at least one day in advance. However, Mutianyu Great Wall does not require a reservation but you better join a tour group for transportation (round trip takes about 6 hours).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Traveling attracts me a lot. You can meet different people and interesting stories when you take a trip. I have been to Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and North Africa. Most of the traveling experiences were solo on my own. Would love to share my story with you。
