About Me

ABOUT ME

I like to have fun (and hope I'm fun to be with!) I'm more than happy to sit and listen to people tell me about their interests and experiences as well as go out and have my own. I like going out and being social and active, but I also like to have "quiet time" where I can just be alone and relax and do things by myself. I like to be crafty and have a wide array of hobbies (sewing, drawing, bartending, fire-spinning, just to name a few). I love music, art, science, and any kind of new activities.
I was once a vocalist in a post-punk/alt-rock band - it was super fun! I've also taken up pole dance and circus arts and have had a few opportunities to compete and perform. It's been a while thanks to Covid, but I always loved going to shows, seeing theater performances, checking out conventions, and exploring places I've never been (especially in cities). I also love food and trying different flavors from different places around the world and I'll occasionally take a step outside the comfort zone to try something completely unlike anything I've had before. I've been mostly plant-based for the last couple years, so I'd love to hear from plant-based/vegan travelers about your experiences! Hopefully when my friends talk about me, they say awesome things!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done a lot of things I think are amazing!

Leaving my life in New England behind and trying to start something new on the West Coast has been a great experience so far! It was exciting and scary, and I'm really glad I did it. This is the furthest I've ever been from "home", and starting a new life over, almost from scratch, isn't easy, but I love it here and even making some small connections with new people has been fun and rewarding. I'm trying out some brand new hobbies/activities, and continuing old ones in a different place with different people.

Being part of Totenkitten at Firefly 2012 (my first Burner event ever!). It was a great experience, both participating and preparing for the event. Watching the 2-story tall brush-wood bug go up in flames and burning on through the night was an amazing sight, and being part of the entourage that everyone at the event seems to both fear and love is an amazing feeling, but there's nothing more satisfying than the wooden temple you just spent weeks building, then going up in flames, described as one of "the most amazing burns I've ever seen" and actually moving people to tears.

Being on stage and performing for a crowd is always enjoyable, even when the crowd's not always into it. But those few times when the people watching you are truly captivated, excited at what they're seeing and hearing, and the energy in the room mixes perfectly with the energy on stage, it's one of the most amazing feelings I've ever felt.
