About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living outside of my comfort zone. Finding out just how crazy and beautiful the rest of the world is. Trying to figure out where I fit in, or if I'm just on the wrong planet.

ABOUT ME

It's a secret. ;) But I promise I won't bite. I'm a chill person. I know how to have fun. I know how to be responsible. Sometimes I'm a little sassy in conversation, but in a funny way. :P I guess you could say...I'm a balanced individual. Though, if you give me a glass of vino fino... I might be on the floor laughing...

2018 update: the older I get, the more I become myself! Also, I'm proud to say I can hold my alcohol a lot better than when I joined CS. XD

PHILOSOPHY
No pasa nada. Relax, breathe. Life is easier if you encourage yourself to let go of the little things that are entirely out of your control.

Sabbe satta sukhi hontu-May all beings be happy.

Don't apologize for who you are. You are you and you are beautiful.

Failure is the only way you're going to learn something. Don't be afraid to fall.

Find a balance between giving others the benefit of the doubt while also maintaining some form of self-preservation. A little give and a little go.

I'm not a nudist, but I have the tendency to wear little clothing. And with summer heat...99% chance you'll find me in shorts when we meet. (I’m really not a nudist...slowly I’m realizing that many people are misreading my profile)

My motto is: I didn't choose the naked life. The naked life chose me. (I obviously wrote this part during the summer--it's getting colder; sweater life here I come!--seriously, Madrid is cold. Sun, come back please.)

Some I was taught by my parents:
It´s not what you got, it´s what you give.
Love your enemy.
Tomorrow never comes.
What comes around, goes around.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think to use Couchsurfing, you have to think openly. I like how there are so many profiles of very different people. I like meeting all types and seeing and listening to what they have to offer to my experiences abroad! I think it's cool to encounter profiles well detailed, but I also like giving chances to meet people with profiles less filled out. There are unique locals all over this website!!! It's awesome!

Hosting:
So far, I've only had one CS hosting experience, and it was very spontaneous but very fun!

My flatmates and I encountered two German student/travellers who were visiting our college community, UCSB. They had approached us randomly while we were getting coffee, and not too far into the conversation, it was decided we could/would host them! Excellent, funny guests! I can't wait until I have a real apartment/house to myself in the future so that I can formally open up my home to world travelers!

Interests

Travel travel travel

Music: Piano, Guitar, Singing, Ukulele...all in that order! I've successfully encouraged one of my older sisters to pick up music, and now she has begun to find her voice!

Personal favorites include: Bright Eyes, Blind Pilot, Lana Del Rey, Marina and the Diamonds, The xx, Noah and the Whale, Taking Back Sunday, Kid Cudi, fun, Boyce Avenue...and some classical music. I love finding acoustic covers of popular songs...usually I find them to be very beautiful versions that allow you to listen the lyrics and the instruments, more than just a techno beat in the background. My newest favorite artists are Twenty One Pilots and Halsey. I've found some excellent mashups of the two on youtube--I'm addicted!

Recent additions (2017):
German --- AnnenMayKantereit -singer has an incredibly unique and deep voice that you won't forget. Check out "Barfuß am Klavier" and you'll fall in love. Also "One Day" (cover) and "Roxanne" (cover w/ Milky Chance);
French --- Bigflo & Old - "Dommage"; Keny Arkana - "J'me Barre"
English --- Neck Deep, ROAM, State Champs, SOJA "You and Me"
(2018)
musica latina: cumbia espacial por Ondatropica, mi swing es tropical por Quantic y Nickodemus

Art: my favorite painting-Starry Night by Van Gogh. Buy me something related to that and I will love you 5ever. To prove my point, I bought a starry night umbrella in Amsterdam, left it by accident in Copenhagen, and am STILL going to have it shipped to me in Spain because I cannot bear the thought of leaving it behind. ;) In addition, I enjoy canvas painting in my free time.

People who can hold witty banter and aren't afraid to make jokes! I think we can all afford to laugh a little more each day!

The color blue. Midnight blue. Purple is also quite nice, but I'm start to drifting towards variations of pinks and reds.

Eating bread. I love bread. Pan. Pane. Mmm. Fresh bread. with butter or oil and balsamic vinegar. Ahhhh. Bread is the life. Croissants in Paris. Umpf. A half moon of buttery goodness. I won´t ever deny a piece of garlic bread either, mind you. I used to live directly across a Thai bakery. It was torture. 2018: Now I live in Madrid where they eat baguette with every damn meal...huge test of my will power.

No, my life does not revolve around travel, music, art, sass, and bread. You're going to have to figure out the rest. Good luck! Buena suerte!

Music, Movies, and Books

Ah shit. Clearly I wrote music in the wrong section.

On to books! NAME OF THE WIND by Patrick Rothfuss. Yes. This is the one. You will not be disappointed. **full of sass, bravery, magic, adventure..and a little bit of love** The Way of Kings is also great. Now I'm reading Game of Thrones!!! I love it! (the HBO series too hehe)

Movies? Hmm. I like going to the movies SOMETIMES but I'm definitely not the type to sit at home watching la tele all day. Too impatient. Must keep moving. Instead of watching characters live their lives, you could be living your own.

However, I do love Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street. It's kind of dark. And I suppose you could never go wrong with White Chicks!! It never fails to make me laugh. I watched some great Danish films as well while I was in Copenhagen. Check out Elsker dig for evigt, Oh happy day, and En kort en lang!

Also, here in Thailand, I live in a very small town with not many options for entertainment--and believe me, this is no exaggeration. Thus, to my own surprise, I've been watching more Netflix than I ever have before in my entire life. To my Netflix fans out there, I suggest: Reign, Parks and Rec, and The 7 Deadly Sins....Black Mirror, Chicas del Cable and Master of None!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hopped on a plane to get out of the States. It's been amazing so far.

Traveled some of Europe for a couple months with my best friend Whitney. We pretty much winged the entire thing, finding hosts as we went, sharing food, and just experiencing un monton de cosas. I feel pretty proud of ourselves!

Later we worked and lived in Thailand! Southeast Asia adventures are crazy! I've never been bitten by so many fucking mosquitos in my entire life. Sawatdee Ka!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share with you what it's like to live in America. I can share my experiences about my travels!

I can help you practice your English. Or your Spanish. Some curse words in Tagalog. A little bit of Thai. Nit Noi.

I can teach you some easy chords if you have a guitar. Or how to read a piano. I've also just picked up ukulele, so I can help you learn something simple!

Don't be afraid to ask me a question! I'm an open book, you just have to flip the page.

What I Can Share with Hosts

The most valuable thing anyone can share with another is time.

Often with this time comes shared food, drinks, and silly jokes!
