About Me

I am originally from a small Albertan city called Medicine Hat. Ian was born in Nova Scotia and left Truro for Calgary when he was 15 years old. Now a days Ian and I are nomadic, working seasonal jobs living in a camper trailer. Our ultimate goal is to obtain land and live off the grid being as self sufficient as possible.
We are both queer, atheists.

I strive on change and new experiences. Odysseus (our kitty cat) is my baby whom I'm going to miss very much when we are in New Zealand! I love animals of all kinds even though I am allergic. At the moment I am mostly vegetarian for social and economic reasons, and have been for 11 years. I say mostly because I will occasionally when given the opportunity consume small amounts of non factory produced meat, and even less frequently (when feeling nihilistic) I may consume factory meat that Ian has cooked for himself. I like to craft (mostly crochet at the moment as you don't need a lot of space) and re purpose things. I love to try local beer and food when traveling. I enjoy theater, art galleries, and fringe festivals.

Ian is really into learning and has an amazing memory, he has tons of random facts and knowledge about lots of different subjects. Ian will never turn down a debate about politics, religion or social issues with a willing participant. Ian prefers cinema to theater, plays the guitar and concertina, loves to swim and play video games. He believes you can never have too many tools and enjoys woodworking. His eating habits are opposite to me, consuming only meat, cheese, and bread. Ceasar salad and french fries being the only vegetables in his diet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet interesting people, learn new things and have some fun. We love to host and find staying with locals to be more rewarding then hostels when traveling.
