About Me

Hi, I am Stephanie from Hong Kong. I was born and raised in Hong Kong for 20 years. I studied Japanese Studies in Hong Kong and Gender Studies in Japan. I have lived in Tokyo, Japan for 3 years so I know quite a lot about Japan and Japanese culture. I am now back to HK, working as a freelance travel writer and blogger.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

At the very beginning, I read a book about a traveller who traveled around the world using this site. I was amazed and became interested in it. That's why I started using couchsurfing. I tried CS in Europe first, then China, Japan, Iran, Turkey, etc......

In 2013, I traveled to France, Belgium, Czech Republic, Sweden, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, and Morocco for six weeks. During that period, I couchsurfed for more than ten times. It was the best travelling experience for me ever.

In 2015, I went to mainland China, Iran, Turkey, Vietnam (Hanoi).

In 2016, I travelled to Taiwan (Hualien) and worked in a hostel for a month. Then, I traveled to London for a month and officially start working in Hong Kong.

I am very glad to be a CSer because it gives me a chance to meet local people and live like a local. It is not just about sightseeing or enjoying yourself, it is more about experiencing life and taking challenges.
