I've been fortunate to have traveled to 31 countries on 4 continents, and have been to 49 of the 50 states in the USA. My interests vary from cooking to sailing. I am a 3-time Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) road racing champion. I love animals, but I have managed to kill almost every houseplant I have ever owned.

I was a member of Couchsurfing some years ago, having made friends in several countries, especially Ukraine, where I also maintained an international trade office from 1999 to 2004.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was flooded out by Hurricane Helene in late September of 2024, and am looking for a temporary place for my sleeping bag until I manage to find another house or apartment in Pinellas County. I'm not hurting for money, but since I lost virtually everything in the flood, I'm trying to conserve as much cash as I can so I can "repopulate" my new digs once I have found the right place again---preferably out of the flood zone...

I would like to find a place for a couple of weeks starting on 19 December. Until then I'm staying at a delightful Airbnb in Tarpon Springs.

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical tastes vary from Opera to Country Music. I like jazz and blues. I play the guitar and sing to anyone who makes the mistake of sitting in one place too long, I am a classic and romantic film buff, but draw the line at horror and exploitation films. I enjoy non-fiction and historical books. I also enjoy contemporary books that relate to current topics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I used to fly fixed wing, single-engine piston aircraft, from tail-dragging Citabrias to Cessnas. I have even pulled 5.5 G's with no G-suit in a T34 US Navy trainer.
