Overview
About Me
I love travel and seeing new places. But not just the scenery, most of the fun is meeting the people and getting a feel for new areas over a few drinks or with a random adventure somewhere.
I write for a living and it's taken me to lots of places I'd never have been to of my own accord, which really gave me a taste for exploring, so I now squeeze trips even further afield into my holiday time!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet people, learn about their passions and see the local area through their eyes and hobbies rather than via the usual tourist stuff. And to try stuff I haven't before (and wouldn't even think of myself). I want to see what makes you tick!
Most of my trips are solo and this seems like a much more fun and interesting way to travel than via lonely hotel rooms or in hostels where too many people seem to spend their time staring at a phone tethered to a charger.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm very open minded, but I guess I listen most to either alternative indie pop, 90s/00s indie music or hip hop, espeically older school stuff like De La Soul and Beastie Boys. A trip through Nashville made me love country, too!
I'll read anything and I love finishing one book and then reading something completely different. I enjoy fiction, and I’m in a virtual book group, as well as queer life stories, comedy and sports autobiographies and everything in between.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Looked for aliens in Area 51 (you'll have to ask what I saw...)
Teach, Learn, Share
Nothing better than swapping stories with each other, be it a grand travelling tale or the tiniest little anecdote where one of us made a fool of ourselves. Oh, and I have a fairly northern English accent which tends to confuse (or amuse) some people…
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'll happily provide some drinks for us to enjoy and some company on a night out or a tour of the city.
I'm happy to stay in hotels or hostels and have done in the past, but trying something a little more social to get a better feel for place I'm visiting really appeals. Couchsurfing is a much more fun way to travel!
