About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To host travellers who have interesting lives....
ABOUT ME
I'm happy to be a host to travellers visiting the Metro Vancouver area. I like hosting and meeting new people. I have a kind and gentle demeanor, I'm well read and I have an interesting and active life. I have travelled a great deal so I'm looking to give back to other travellers now that I have a very comfortable home. I've been on the receiving end of the "kindness of strangers" so it's time to pay that kindness forward. I am interested in the lives and experiences of others. I have a good sense of humor, I'm an alright cook, and I like to host,
PHILOSOPHY
Respect, kindness and leaving the planet in a better condition than when I arrived...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
For now, I'm hosting. My job limits my travel to summer and late December. Local summer travel plans are focussed in BC (kayaking and camping).
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have hosted quite a few times (more than three dozen people in the last 18 months); I haven't couch surfed quite yet.
Interests
Activities: hiking, cycling (done more than 3 dozen 100+ km day rides), camping, kayaking, just being outdoors! Recently completed my second Sprint distance triathlon in Vancouver!

Music, Movies, and Books
I like to read (recent reads: The Chryslalids, Sarah's Key, Time Traveller's Wife, and a few counselling books for work), enjoy a great movie and since music is part of my career, I mostly listen to music at home (pop, classical, jazz, some alternate) rather than play/perform. TV shows: Continuum, Law & Order SVU, Good Wife, Amazing Race, Modern Family, True Blood, Walking Dead and a few crime and cooking shows.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swimming alongside a sea turtle on a Belize kayaking adventure; functioning in (basic) French on my own in Paris for a week (determined NOT to speak English); cycling through England and Wales for 5 weeks on my own many years ago; jumping out of a plane (i've sky dived twice); and marveling at how socialism works in Cuba.
Teach, Learn, Share
I like to cook, I'm very musical and I'm a teacher by profession.
