Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Learning to cook, learning Finnish, getting healthy, and studying the dynamics of complex systems.
ABOUT ME
I currently live in Finland, studying human nature as part of a scientific project. So I suppose that you could say my main source of satisfaction is from thinking about nature and people.
That being said, I don't really know who I am or what I am doing much of the time, but I'm greatly enjoying the ride. I dream of travelling the world and seeing all that it has to offer. I wrote a list of things to do when I was in high school, and my life since then has basically been to follow its guidance.
PHILOSOPHY
Embrace variation, get engaged with what you do, seek resonance, say yes, and avoid any job that involves wearing a tie.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have spent many a night crashing at someone's house after a night out or whilst travelling. I've slept on park benches, in truck cabs, at bus stations, in restaurants, in bushes and on the street. However, I find it mostly impossible to sleep on an airplane.
I think my most interesting couch-surfing experience was when a priest found me begging for change in the Grand Canyon Village and gave me a place to sleep for the night.
On the other end of the scale I like to keep my place open for travelers and friends. There's a fold-out couch in the lounge room; it's squeaky but soft. The apartment is centrally located in the happening Finnish town of Jyväskylä and it often serves as the base for forays out into the city and the place to return afterwards. All welcome!
Interests
I can find most things interesting providing someone gives me a primer or initiation first. However, when left to my own devices I tend to turn to movies, music, reading and learning.

Music, Movies, and Books
Love 'em. Anything is on the table for discussion.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Oh yeah, once I saw a blimp.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could teach some science things - my field is behavioural ecology. That's basically about how behaviour adapts to the environment through evolutionary processes. But my knowledge is mainly theoretical in nature, so don't go asking me what the names of different animals are because I won't know. I suppose I could also give advice for writing.
As for learning, I'm open to everything! At the top of my list may be photography, music, cooking or any kind of handy things.
