ABOUT ME

This is me in a nutshell- It would be my mission, but it's too long :D

Abandon your plans of escape. And Be where you are. Live. And Live well. BREATHE. Breathe in and breathe deeply. Be Present. Do not be past. Do not be future. Be now. On a crystal clear, breezy 70* day, roll down the windows and FEEL the wind against your skin. Feel the warmth of the sun. If you run then allow those first few breaths on a cool autumn day to freeze your lungs and do not be alarmed. Be ALIVE. Get knee-deep in a novel and lose track of time. If you bike, pedal HARD- and if you crash, then crash well. Feel the satisfaction of a job well done-a paper well written, a project thoroughly completed, a play well performed. If you've recently experienced a loss, then GRIEVE and then grieve well. At the table with friends and family, LAUGH. If your eating and laughing at the same time, then you might as well laugh until you puke. And if you eat, then SMELL. The aromas are not impediments to your day. Steak on the grill, coffee beans freshly ground, cookies in the oven. And TASTE. Taste every ounce of flavor. Taste every ounce of friendship. Taste every ounce of life. Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have just recently discovered Couchsurfing. I stayed with a good friend in Spain who was a member and hosted a couple people while I was staying with him. I realized what beautiful mission and means of communication this is. I hope I can become an active part and share in a community that is so obviously based on a desire to be good friends and stewards to other people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My very good friend hosted a girl from California. She was lovely. It was like we had all known each other for ages when she left two days later. She bought groceries and used her talent in cooking to thank her host. I was so impressed by the kinds of people couchsurfing appeals to and this common idea of good will that has begun.

Interests

I love Living! I love people (especially those who are funny and exciting), ideas, laughter, surfing (or any sport with a board), cities, listening to and playing music (anything that holds a beat or melody), water but specifically the ocean, film, photography and developing photos, a good bar, cooking, being vegetarian, reading then talking about a good book, religion and philosophy, trying to speak spanish, sailing and dreaming, getting lost in the streets of Barcelona

Music, Movies, and Books

I love indie music, Radiohead, Death Cab, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, singer/songwriters, jazz, bluegrass (what do you expect, I'm from KY), and the girl on the street who sings to herself as she walks

I LOVE art house and foreign films and recently have been discovering spanish cinema

I want to read everything, my favorite book is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, it's beautiful

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen the power of the human heart. That is better than any foreign place (although they are indescribable too)

I try to write down something I learn everyday or challenge myself in someway. Today I tripple knotted my shoes :)
