About Me

In the 2nd half of my 20s I left a mid-sized Italian city called Modena and moved to San Francisco, a place I hold very dear to my heart to this day. I did my undergraduate in the United States and ended up in New York City with a job at a software startup called Meetup. I've been living in Brooklyn for seven years now and at this very moment I can't imagine leaving this very special place. I love the craziness, the variety, the boldness, the quality, the expectations and the attitude. :-)

I am very passionate when it comes to music, cycling, cinema and traveling. To the point where work and career simply "sponsor" experiences related to my love for all these things.

I'm a bit of an old soul. I love a good cocktail, an intelligent conversation, a beautiful beach, a fulfilling vegetarian meal (I haven't eaten meat in over 20 years) and a great group of friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'll be honest here. 1) There's no better way to experience a new place than with the help of someone who lives there. 2) New York sucks my paycheck dry every month. Relentlessly. 3) In my youth I was imprinted by punk rock and DIY culture. I crashed on friends couches traveling Europe for shows and festival and loved every second.

Interests

I'm pretty fanatical about music and cinema, sometimes in a disturbed way. Most of my traveling has been related to these two forms of art. It's my natural habitat. Randomly, I can also get caught rambling incessantly about how much I love DIY politics, San Francisco (where I lived for a couple of years), a good bourbon, photography, very technical skateboarding and traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books

There are a lot of movies in my heart, here's a sample: Nights of Cabiria, The Conversation, If..., Sunday Bloody Sunday, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, Billy Liar (yes, I like the British stuff of the '50s and '60s and so-called "Free Cinema"), the heroes of American black and white (Menkiewicz, Fuller, Wyler, Wilder, etc...) and the 70s bunch (Scorsese, Coppola, Lucas, Spielberg, Friedkin) and a whole lot of Japanese directors like Seijun Suzuki, Masahiro Shinoda and Mikio Naruse. There's little I rave about these days... but Shion Sono is probably the coolest director nowadays.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I moved to San Francisco all the way from Italy and took care of a lot of inhibitions, fears, issues, doubts, uncertainties, etc... It was, so far, the best time of my life.
