About Me
Hola hola! Thanks for reading my profile! I'm Sterre, a very hard name for anyone who doesn't speak Dutch, haha, so i go by Ester. I am 22 years old, i've worked in Santiago, Chile as an au pair, and a close friend that I met there, introduced me to couchsurfing.
I have three siblings, I study public administration but my true love is history, I live in a student house with 4 other girls in Leiden, a small university city south of Amsterdam, I play field hockey, love sit-coms, singing (badly), chocolate, (party-)animals, summer, and strolling around aimlessly through cities or nature.
Furthermore, I love the concept of couchsurfing so much! It is an amazing way to make local friends and get to know a culture better. You experience places and culture in a much more intense way, compared to if you just went to a hostel. I am very amazed and gratefull that there are so many nice people in the world that are willing to open their houses to travelers, and i can't imagine traveling without couchsurfing. It adds a whole new dimension to it. Already can't wait until I live alone, so I can host surfers as well!(my housemates aren't comfortable with me hosting couchsurfers right now)
I like cooking, i prefer eating vegetarian (even better: vegan), but I don't like saying I'm vegan because I am very flexible.
My friends descibe me as extraverted, energetic, spontanious, fun and the "good kind" of crazy haha.
I make sure to clean up after myself and respect your boundaries! It would be a nightmare to me if I were bothering you in any way, especially if you've already opened up your house to me.
The South-America experience was 3.5 years ago, so now my Spanish is muy rusty, but I grab every opportunity I get to practise.
Forever grateful for all the people that hosted me! So many special connections made thanks to CS.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think that couchsurfing is a much better way to truly get to know a place and its culture, than in hostels. being with other travelers is so much fun but you don't really meet any locals that way

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Living in Chile for halve a year and working for the family as their au pair. But also truly caring about them and have a beautiful experience
Teach, Learn, Share
Two philosophies that I go by;
Life has no point so just try to be happy and make others happy
Everyone is different, therefor the right thing for them can also be different. Encourage that and let yourself and others do what is right for them
