About Me

Friendly and respectful guy. I'm young-minded, but I'm also clean, tidy and not too crazy ;-)

A Kiwi who moved to Hong Kong around 10 years ago. Hadn't traveled much before that, but Hong Kong has been a great hub for visits around Asia, as well as a few hops over to Europe, etc.

I'm pretty practical and down-to-earth. I'm not on any spiritual journey; just want see the world and have fun with some cool peeps.

(BTW: As recommend on the FAQ, I generally don’t accept friend requests out of the blue from complete strangers. Thanks for your understanding)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A friend of mine just told me about it. I figure, I have a spare room going to waste, and like meeting new people but don't want the commitment of a long-term flatmate.

On my side, there's a lot of places in the world I'd like to see, but not so badly that I'd want to spend a whole lot of time there. Couch-surfing seems a good way to see these places over short breaks and on cheap last-minute flights.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
- 40% Underground hip-hop - anything lyrical
- 40% Metal of various genres
- 20% electronic (progressive, trance, techno, dubstep)

Check out my 2,000 album reviews on RYM for specifics:

Movies:
Anything with a good story that's believable. True stories are probably my favorite - after all, they wouldn't have made it into a movie if it wasn't a good story.
- Top movies would be 2001: A Space Odyssey- anything Stanley Kubrick; Heavenly Creatures

TV:
- Utopia; Black Mirror; Orphan Black; Narcos; Breaking Bad; Channel 4 series; Happy!; Bates Motel; Penny Dreadful; Mad Men

Love going out to live music, outdoor festivals, bands, dance parties and house parties, as well as small hidden places. Less into clubbing at mainstream places.
