À propos de moi

66, Single/divorced, retired from construction and restaurant industries. Former U.S. Marine and combat veteran from Vietnam War. I have lived in various places including 6 years in Europe. (London, England, Braunschweig and Luneburg, Germany, and Dublin, Ireland) I am a brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and master of three dogs....Well maybe they are masters of me? :) Friends consider me as very trustworthy, loyal, and punctual with a good sense of humor and an ability to even laugh at myself. I do not drink or smoke or believe in organized religion, but do consider myself a spiritual person and believe in a Higher Power I call God.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I came home from Europe in 1996 and have been feeling the urge to re-connect overseas again....Don't know why exactly, but when I was over there 20-odd years ago (1989-96) I felt my destiny/fate, future(?) was somehow linked elsewhere other than the USA. How? I don;t know. Physical re-location, or perhaps my future spouse?? I have no clue, but I still have this feeling that my future is linked to Europe....Or elsewhere?

I admit I'm lonely. I have friends, but they are either married, have kids, and /or their own lives to be concerned with. In an ideal world, I am still searching for that one, certain, woman to give love to and share my life with. Ideally she would be a bit younger than me. Don't ask why, just accept my wishes.

Centres d'intérêt

My interests are eclectic and varied. I love motorsports and the associated technology. I try to attend several auto and motorcycle races every year. I have been riding motorcycles for 52 years and still ride 'year round. I also build custom cars and motorcycles as a hobby. I have 2 motorcycle projects and one long-term car project now in my garage which has been converted into a mechanic's shop.

I also enjoy astronomy, cosmology, reading about various sciences, science-fiction, military history, volunteer work, cooking, movies, doing home improvements , survival/wilderness study, target shooting, reading auto-tech, raising dogs, fishing, camping.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I grew up in the 50's and 60s. I love classic rock 'n roll, some classical, light jazz, musicals, big band era, and new age. I like science-fiction and action movies, romantic comedies; Avatar, Star Wars, Star Trek, Blade Runner, 2001 A Space Odyssey, Contact, Hunger Games, Clint Eastwood movies (acting and directing) yes even the Swarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, and some of Tom Cruise movies too. My favorite romantic comedy is "When Harry Met Sally".
The Other Woman is pretty funny too.
Books: So many! I have read literally thousands of books over the years, I am always reading 1-2 books, real books and Kindle Books. Authors; Heinlien, Asimov, Bradbury were my early sci-fi influences. Now, David Weber, Greg Bear, and many more.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I became a self-taught, free-lance, management consultant specializing in management and design of American style restaurants in Europe. In recognition of my work in Europe, I was listed in the 2001 edition of "Who's Who of International Entrepreneurs"

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

At my age, I have learned that ego is for the young, I lead my life with the "Three Cs":
Communication=Talk to each other and LISTEN to what is being said. TALK!!
Compassion= Feel for others, see their plight. Put yourself in their position.
Compromise=Give up a little of your ego and the results will surprise you.

I do not have to know everything, I just have to know somebody who does!
Sometimes the next best thing to do is nothing!
