Almost over hosting on CouchSurfing these days but I'm happy to meet up for a coffee to share local information and or talk about travel or sailing. I still host on occasion however. Strongly suggest you read complete profile though , 90% of requests we receive haven't bothered to read our profile.. doing so raises your chance of being hosted measurably.

I love the idea of paying it forward and having my kids exposed to people travelling the world just for the joy of it.

What we got especially over the past few years were a bunch of mainly young people looking for free accommodation, and treated us like we were a charter yacht or hotel. Often just not showing up on time or not at all and not bothering to notify us.

We love to host cool, interesting people who love the water, love travel and looking for an experience not those just looking for a free bed for a night.

It was a great idea initially but sadly CouchSurfing or couch-surfers have lost their way, for us at least. I'm not sure it can be fixed now..

Anyway, still keen to help out and meet good people , drop us a line if you want to meet up just for the point of meeting a local.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I Like the idea of helping out authentic travellers and CouchSurfing supplies a pretty good platform for us to be able to do that safely , considering I often have my two kids onboard. If you address your request as Dear Elvis I will seriously look at your request as it shows you at least bothered to read our profile.

We instantly reject any that do not start with dear Elvis. Also please don't ask to stay with a friend or partner or any other random person who doesn't have A CouchSurfing profile, the whole idea is that we can see who we are hosting before we choose to host or not.. If there are two people with profiles add a link, don't expect me to go looking for them so I can have the privilege of hosting you.

Wether we choose to host you will depend solely on the quality of your request, your references and our ability to figure out why you'd like to stay with us..and f course fitting in with our sometimes busy schedules.
