About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy my hometowns year of glory as the 2013 City of Culture

ABOUT ME

I am a passionate traveller and tour-guide all over Ireland but especially in Northern Ireland. Sometimes I am not home, but my hostel-staff will provide an equally warm welcome if I am away tour-guiding 'on the road'!

I have worked for over a decade on my own and also with Paddywagon Tours and US Travel guru Rick Steves. I own a lovely backpacker hostel in the middle of my home-town, historic Derry. its called Derry International Hostel, but known locally as 'Paddys Palace' or 'the Derry Palace'! I love the principles of couchsurfing and to support the couch-surfing community I always leave a few couches (usually a nice clean bed actually) each night available free-of-charge to couch-surfers.
Happy travels

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I own a few beautiful properties and river-front apartments which I rent out to students and travellers on a short-term basis, all are in the centre of Derry (aka londonderry).

I occasionally have some empty beds, and empty couches, in a lovely backpacker hostel that I also own in the middle of my home-town, historic Derry. its called Derry International Hostel, but known locally as 'Paddys Palace' or 'the Derry Palace'! I love the principles of couchsurfing and to support the couch-surfing community I always leave a few couches (usually a nice clean bed actually) each night available free-of-charge to couch-surfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am relatively new (nearly a year) to the couch-surfing website though I have known about since last year when 6 really cool people came to stay at my hostel because they had no couches available in Derry that night, I had no idea wat they were on about but when they explained I thought it was a brilliant concept, and they were such enthusiastic travellers and brought a great friendly vibe to the the place, we had a lot of fun hosting them
