Overview
About Me
Hi! I live in Canberra, Australia, studying and teaching archaeology here at the ANU. I was brought up in Brisbane, but am originally from Brisbane, and was born in the UK.
I live at a student housing co-operative in Canberra, and love co-housing in the power that we have to collectively determine housing outside of the private rental system.
I have studying community development at university, and have worked as a youth worker for three years. I have also worked for Oxfam, World Vision and Friends of the Earth as a community educator.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm a big believer that when we travel we should be meeting locals who have insights into the culture and place we travel to. I also believe in having an open home in order to connect with a wide variety of people, ideas and cultures. I'm also against the corporatisation of accommodation, and the way that this drives disconnection. Viva la connection :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Any books on history, a good funny novel (anything by Jasper Fforde or Douglas Adams) is my cup of tea. I love local Canberra bands, Sufjan Stevens, Scottish maestro Martyn Bennett, and dancing to funk and swing!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Cycling from Canberra to Melbourne, over the mountains and down to the sea, was absolutely amazing. And then deciding on a split second whim to catch the ferry to Tasmania in order to go and see the MONA gallery!
What I Can Share with Hosts
A beautiful student co-operative space in Canberra, with shared meals and outings, communal living and buying.
If I have time amidst the busyness, I can take you cycling around Lake Burley Griffin, show you the underground music and arts scenes in Canberra (yes they do exist!).
But otherwise, I can point you in the right direction to have a good time in Canberra and lend you a bike too.
