About Me

I spend a great deal of my time hiking when the weather is nice out. I live two hours away from a mountain range called the Catskills, and we like to hike to the tops of the mountains, as well as on the many trails that are even closer.I also love craft beer, and like to go to bars and drink rare and special beers from around the world (but not partying). I really enjoy indie rock, and I go to a lot of small-venue concerts each year. I love to fish, also, especially deep water.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm personally a curious person, and am fascinated by the vastness of this Earth. What better way to broaden our horizons than to live vicariously through the global experiences of good people, and maybe spark an otherwise unknown interest in a place other than our own?

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies that provide a good, mindless escape. Lots of things blowing up, silly comedies, and outdoor adventures are my favorites. My very favorite movies are "Grosse Point Blank", "The Big Lebowski", Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?", "Serendipity," and "Boondock Saints" just to name a few.

Music ... I am a long-time music fan, and have been to well over 100 concerts in my life, from big all-day festivals to indie bands in small NYC halls. My all-time favorite is Jack White and all of his bands, and close behind are The Kills, Phantogram, Rush, Alice in Chains, Soul Coughing, with many more loves as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to El Salvador in 2012 on a mission trip to build a water well for a town that had no clean drinking water. It was an incredible, spiritual, fulfilling experience. And screw one, I want to say two ... I also spent a week in Indonesia, away from the tourist cities, eating fish with my bare hands, hiking to hidden waterfalls in the jungle, and taking a boat out to the legendary Krakatau volcano to walk almost to the top of it.
