Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

work hard, play around some and enjoy life

ABOUT ME

I am happily married with an 4-year-old daughter. We live in a great neighborhood and love our home. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time and my profile is quite out of date from current events. Still relevant, but outdated. Basically I'm a full-time farmer, husband and dad on top of being a new homeowner and between all that I have no time for thoroughly filling out profiles...

The old stuff:
I no longer live in Athens, Ohio! Technically I was in Amesville, OH, at Green Edge Organic Gardens and working for Athens Electric doing Solar Photovoltaic Systems and misc. electrical work. I'm enjoying Athens a lot and may even stay ... nope - in March 2011 my soon to be wife and I moved near Middletown, Ohio...

I traveled for a year between October 2006 and Oct. 2007. I did some sight-seeing around Europe, some safari-ing around Africa and then a bunch of wwoofing to pursue my passionate interest in organic food and farming.

Before taking a year off, I had been working in an office for too long (for 9-feckin years) and as of July 2006 I quit that damn corporate job and decided it is time to go and see the world. Traveling was an absolute amazing adventure, just unbelievable. Couchsurfing has added so much to the experience. I've made some new excellent friends to add to my group of great long-time friends that have been very supportive and encouraging, I don't know what I'd be doing without them.

My previous "professional" occupation was as a web/graphic designer. I definitely still enjoy web design and like to teach people about the web, html, flash, etc. I'm sticking to freelance work due to the flexibility and freedom it allows, and I am open to pro-bono work to help out worthy causes.

PHILOSOPHY

I live to enjoy life, enrich myself and my surroundings, eat good veggies and have a good, responsible existence.

My travel philosophy is to be spontaneous and venture on a loose idea of a plan. Some of the best things that have ever happened have been as a result of not making plans.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Now that we have a house and a couch, we can maybe host. Just drop us a line. I wish I had more time to participate in the project.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed quite a bit and all were incredibly great experiences. It truly is inspiring to meet and become friends with people in the couchsurfing network. Every one has been very generous. The concept is awesome and hope to surf even more couches in the near future! One of these days, I hope to be as generous of a host as I have experienced in traveling!

Música, películas y libros

music: Iron & Wine, Karine Polwart, Calexico, Interpol, Jackstraw, Coldplay, Andrew Bird, Sondre Lerche, The Shins, Wilco, The New Pornographers ... the list goes on
books: All Flesh is Grass - Gene Lodgson. "The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" was pretty good. I currently 1/2013 don't have time to read...

movies: my taste in movies is dated - matrix, pulp fiction, usual suspects, the illusionist

Algo increíble que he hecho

Hiked the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim in one day. According to a lot of people, quiting my job and traveling for 10 months is pretty amazing too ... and it is! but anyone can do that and enjoy it!

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I really enjoy talking and teaching people about good food, organic farming, hiking, music, home brewing, carpentry and other fun stuff.
