About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Currently in the middle of a 12 month African adventure...
ABOUT ME
Hi. My name is Stephen. I have recently quit my job, packed up my life and begun travelling through the amazing continent that is Africa. My aim is to travel, experience new cultures, meet new people and taste new beers for as long as money allows. Then find a job, save some money and repeat.
I studied engineering in Brisbane for 4 years and am not really too fond of it. But I am grateful for the opportunities it has given me to travel and to work in new and interesting places.
I love my sports, especially rugby and Australian rules. Love a beer, good food and a good chat. And just generally not taking myself too seriously and enjoying life.
PHILOSOPHY
"So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more dangerous to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun."
- Christopher McCandless, Into The Wild
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Not being at home currently can't really host. But keen to make new friends and meet new people.
If you are really stuck for a couch in Brisbane please let me know, I do still have many contacts.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Still fairly new to it all. Have surfed and hosted a handful of times though. Pretty keen to get more involved as time goes on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spent 2 weeks hiking in the Scottish highlands. Amazing scenery and amazingly variable weather (sunshine, snow and rain)
Won a grand final with the last game of football (Australian Rules) I played
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I can teach you about engineering if you really like? (or you are having a hard time falling asleep) And I am more than willing to offer tips on anything Australian (like stay away from Vegemite!)
Learn: I would love to learn about new cities, cultures and meet new people.
Share: I would love to share a beer with you. And also share travel stories. I am always looking for my next adventure.
