ABOUT ME

I'm getting old. I've discovered naps - dapple in them occasionally, but wouldn't say I'm a regular user.

I like travelling, but don't really like the 'travelling' bit. I like the bit where you get out of the vehicle you're travelling in. Unless we're talking trains. Trains are great. Especially with good scenery.

I love taking photos. I've realised that more than anything, I probably travel for 'sights'. I like SEEING new places. I definitely love engaging with new people, I love a variety of tasty cuisines, I love hanging out in great bars - but I think mainly I love seeing beauty in all its various forms.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted a few couch-surfers in Adelaide and I've met a good handful of couch-surfers at parties or coffee in America and Europe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Fantastic experience! Just a great way to connect with locals rather than meeting people from elsewhere at hostels (or being alone at hotels).

Oh I've been lucky to travel a lot. More than my fair share in northern America and Europe - been great.

Some more curious things: I sometimes work as a tour guide June-August, for rich American teenagers, showing them around Europe. I had previously worked for a company that took kids to different amusement parks every day of their summer vacation.

South By Southwest Music Festival was a life-long highlight (saw ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead three times - yay!).

I work in the media and can share thoughts. I'm really quite opinionated about politics (I'm left wing), although I try to always keep an open mind, and I want to know more about economics.

I love taking photos and working out dynamic composition and capturing good light. Happy to share this love!
