About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Ride a motorcycle across the United States.

ABOUT ME

I just finished my undergraduate and I have eight months until I have to start being an adult, so I'm traveling the world! I'm currently in the United States ripping around on my motorcycle, touring our nations beautiful landscapes.

Coming from my past life of being a Marine and a defense contractor, I've had many opportunities to work in the strangest places with some interesting people. Those fields also allowed me to realize one of my true passions: travel. I then took every opportunity I had to travel during my undergraduate, and now I'm taking full advantage of this time off. This journey of mine spans from January to August, 2018, and will include South America, Europe, and much of the United States. Plans are loosely defined, and I have faith I will be guided by others well as time progresses. After all, it's the journey that matters more than the destination.

I want to be amazed by the places I see, the people I meet, and the experiences I have. I want to enjoy life. I want to learn how people around the world live their lives. I want to stand in front of breathtaking panoramas that make me realize how finite and fleeting life is. I want to be humbled. I want to learn as much as I can from as many unlikely sources as I can find before I dedicate the rest of my life to researching and building bionic prostheses. Needless to say, I am going to make the most out of my eight months of freedom.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I lived in Texas, I was always happy to host travelers, offering them the same hospitality that I would hope to receive from a host. Now that I'm on the road again, I want to create new memories with my hosts. Everyone has travel stories; let's make some new ones together in your home town!

Interests

Scuba diving along the equator, long walks in the woods, Yoga anywhere, looking at trees with sincere interest, playing with dogs, sarcastically dancing, escaping the beaten path, writing, photography, friendly debating, and sharing ideas with others. I also love to eat, but who doesn't?

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't get much time for TV and movies nowadays, but I will always love comedy classics like Dr. Strangelove, Airplane!, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spaceballs, and Office Space (1999 counts as a classic now, right?)

Music: who doesn't love it? As of late, I've been exploring more studious types of music like Mozart and Wagner, but that doesn't mean I still don't enjoy some Jimi Hendrix or a good dancy beat to help get the body moving.

And books, well, it would be easier to show you my bookshelf.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have had the pleasure to:

-Go on a 4 day scuba diving trip in Thailand.
-Appreciate my own life by seeing the hardships of others across the globe.
-Meet Mel Brooks.
-Put out a fire using only hand grenades.
-See snow in the middle of a desert.
-Ride a motorcycle across Southeast Asia
-Hitchhike from Los Angeles to San Franscisco
-Walk the Camino de Santiago from St. Jean Pied de Port to Finisterre.

Teach, Learn, Share

All three at the same time! Life's a learning experience; never stop being a student, for the wisest man is the one who knows nothing and is aware that he knows nothing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Most of my travels have been through Southeast Asia and South America, and I'm always open to exchange travel tips and stories with others. I thoroughly enjoy a good esoteric conversation, especially the type where we all walk away from it feeling like we gained a new perspective, rather than just stated our opinions.

I love to cook, I love to eat. Lets go out for some awesome food in town, or just cook out at home if you have a favorite recipe.
