About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finding new and imaginative ways to amuse myself

ABOUT ME

The older I get the more I like myself

PHILOSOPHY

Our purpose in life is to discover our true nature, extend a helping hand to others and enjoy the day. What else really matters?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In the late 80s, I spent several years traveling and many people opened their homes to me. I take pleasure in having the chance to return the favor.

I had good experiencing hosting couchsurfers in Budapest, Hungary, where I lived for many years. I also did Airbnb for many years.

Now I'm relocating to Chico, CA, after 30 years of living abroad. I'm also a CSUC grad (IR 1987). I intend to spend the summer getting reacclimated.

I'm looking forward to meeting new people through Couchsurfing, and grateful for a place to stay while I adjust to a life in a 'new' country and figure out my options.

Interests

I like meeting new people, good conversation, new experiences, new places, the pleasures of my senses and the satisfaction of stimulating work.

I love Asian street food, the smells and surprises.

In Hungary, you can get a cheap and delicious lunch at the butcher shop.

I hear Chico has food trucks? Tell me more.

Music, Movies, and Books

A partial list of authors would include Kurt Vonnegut, Phillip K. Dick, Hunter S. Thompson and Charles Dickens.

Movies would include Catch-22, the Magic Christian, A Scanner Darkly and Cabaret, but that's just off the top of my head.

Music? Depends on mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have bicycled the coast of California, as well as Germany, France and Switzerland, and a bit of Mexico.

I backpacked around Eastern Europe in the final years of the 80s and witnessed the collapse of Communism.

That's two things.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've lived my life as a cultural chameleon. I enjoy exploring weird new places, figuring out the local ways and making friends.

Having lived half my life outside the United States, I am returning with fresh eyes. I want to see how Chico has changed, and how I have changed.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm grateful for your invitation, and I will respect your home.

I'm a decent cook. I like washing dishes. I'm clean.

I can hold up my end of a conversation, but I also enjoy silence.
