About Me
I love traveling and meeting new people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I would like to host fellow travelers and (if wanted and possible) show them a bit of my region. If requested I can offer accomodation (modest: bunkbed and shared bathroom). You are welcome to cook on my Aga stove and us some space in my fridge.
I am a home exchanger and I ussualy find great exchangers, so finding a bed is mostly not a problem. But I would love to find somebody via this way to show me a bit of his neighbourhood and give me some hospitality. Talk a bit of music, books, art, ...
I would love to visit some cities in Europe and the States, and homeswapping is not always easy there (popular tourist cities). May be there are couchsurfers interested in me hosting them for a week (max two weeks) and they doing that in return for me and my daughter?
Mostly I travel with my daughter Goedele (17 years old).
Let me hear something from you, and may be we can work something out?

Music, Movies, and Books
Reading: I like the 'classics' (for instance: Anthony Trollope, Charles Dickens), but currently Ian McEwan is a favourite of mine. Also interested in books on history and filosofy. Love to read and may be you can give me some good titles when we meet?
Also much interested in graphical novels and art in general. Graphic novels: Gibrat and Boucq to name a couple of my favourites. I notice both are French, I am Belgian, so I should mention: Franquin and Schwartz. And for the English speaking: love Craig Thompson & Will Eisner.
Art: art nouveau & preraphaelites are the favourites.
Music: classic, jazz, world music (what is in the word,), pop (huh?!), ... very diverse. And as with everything: eager to explore new fields.
I have no television, but do enjoy a good film now and again: recent good views: Captain Fantastic, Quartet and Detachment.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Working for a year in the states with the National Forest Service. That was a great experience: really getting to know the people and the 'American Culture'.
Singing in different choirs and having had the opportunity to perform with a group of like minded people. Practicing towards a performance and getting better and more informed on the way (at least that is what I hope, the audience may have had another opinion...).
Teaching kids to swim and being a chief-monitor on vacationcamps for the Flemish government (the 'Bloso' agency, at that time - now 'Vlaanderen Sport'). Getting kids past their limits and fears - fear/silence when first coming to the swimming pool and after some lessons the 'boldness and fearlesness'.
Homeswapping: been doing that for the pas twenty years. By this being able to visit many countries on a low budget, and on the way get some lasting friendships.
